Slayers 2: How to Get the Legendary Fishing Rod

The Legendary Fishing Rod is the top of the fishing chain in Slayers 2, and it does something no other rod does: it pulls equipment out of the water instead of only fish. Getting it means clearing a three-stage chain around Mistfall Docks, and almost all of it has to happen at night.

Quick answer: Reach level 45, pick up the fishing permit from Dock Master Sofen, then complete three night-time steps at Mistfall Docks — catch the Drowned Lure, deliver fish to Isao, and fish the downstream ledge.

The chain runs in a fixed order. You catch the Drowned Lure from a hidden spot, hand a specific fish order to a ghost fisherman, and then fish up the rod itself at a marked location downstream. Skipping ahead does nothing — the final catch will not trigger without the lure equipped.

Requirements before you start fishing

Fishing is gated behind character level, not behind a quest you can rush. Everything below needs to be done before the rod chain will work at all.

Sofen hands over the permit through dialogue, and Jeso sells the starter rod. You do not need anything fancier than the Basic Fishing Rod for the first step — in fact, a better rod will not help you there.

Step 1: Catch the Drowned Lure at Mistfall Docks

Head to the red bridge at Mistfall Docks and find the waterspout. The spot you want is the rocky ledge directly across from it, which you reach by following the shoreline around rather than swimming straight out.

Wait for night. The lure will not appear during the day, no matter how many times you cast from the correct ledge.

Equip the Basic Fishing Rod with no bait attached. Bait blocks this one, so unequip anything you were using before you start casting.

Land five successful catches from that ledge. Completing the fifth catch awards the Drowned Lure directly to your inventory.

The Drowned Lure is a legendary item with infinite durability, a 1x Bite Speed Multiplier, and a 25% Catch Chance. It will never break, so once you have it, the rest of the chain is safe to attempt as many times as you need.

Step 2: Deliver Isao’s fish order under the red bridge

Go underneath the red bridge at night and speak to Legendary Fisherman Isao. He only appears after dark, and the conversation is what sets the order.

Fish up 2 Krathulon and 2 Crustadon. These are legendary fish, so expect this to be the longest part of the chain.

Return to Isao at night with all four fish in your inventory and run through his dialogue. Once he accepts them, the quest moves to its final stage.

Faster ways to land Krathulon and Crustadon

Upgrade to the Rare Fishing Rod before farming — the Basic rod is only required for the lure step.
Use Fish Head or Golden Tentacle bait to improve your odds on legendary catches.
Fish with friends and share catches, so you are not chasing all four yourself.

Keep the four fish in your inventory until the handover is done. Isao checks what you are carrying when you talk to him.

Step 3: Fish up the Legendary Fishing Rod downstream

Follow the river downstream from the docks, past two main drops. The final location is a rocky ledge beside a tree, right next to a waterfall.

Equip the Drowned Lure onto your rod before you cast. Without the lure attached, the location behaves like any other stretch of water.

Cast into the water and watch for the confirmation line, which reads “This is the place. Twenty years I’ve watched it.” That text is how you know you are standing in the correct spot with the right setup.

Keep fishing from that ledge. The Legendary Fishing Rod eventually comes up as a catch, and the Legendary Fisherman title unlocks along with it.

If you do not see the confirmation line, you are either on the wrong ledge or the lure is not equipped. The dialogue is the only signal that the spot is active, so check it before committing to a long fishing session.

The Items Catch Tier is the part that matters most. With this rod equipped, casts can return equipment rather than fish, which is how players pull the craftable Lost Set gear associated with the Archives. The title stacks on top of that with small fishing and breath duration bonuses, so there is no reason to swap it off once you have it.

Because the Drowned Lure never breaks and the rod’s chance to land a catch sits at 95%, the grind effectively ends here — the only real cost left is time spent waiting for night cycles. If you have not started fishing yet, the whole chain begins at level 45 in Slayers 2, and the permit is the first thing to collect.
