World of Warcraft: How to Get to Zephras Isle via the Dalaran Skycutter

Zephras Isle does not sit anywhere on the Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor map. It is a floating island in Skywall, the elemental plane of air, and the only way in is a flying vessel called a skycutter that docks on a balcony above Dalaran. Skyborne characters start there, but any character who can reach the dock can board the ship.

Quick answer: Take the Skydome Portal in Stormwind’s Wizard’s Sanctum to Dalaran, walk out onto the Violet Citadel’s outer balcony, and wait for the skycutter. It arrives every 5 to 10 minutes.

Zephras Isle access requirements (Skyborne Heroic Pack)

World of Warcraft: Forever is available with either an active subscription or Game Time. However, accessing the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience requires a paid upgrade. The lowest-priced option is the Skyborne Heroic Pack at $29.99 / €29.99. Both the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99) and the Warcraft Forever Collection ($79.99) contain everything included in Heroic. Invite-A-Friend launch codes provide Forever access from November 4 to 11, 2026, but neither the race nor its island is included.

Upgrades are handled on the official World of Warcraft: Forever page. The zone was playable during the beta that began on September 17, 2026, and it opens to everyone when Forever launches on November 4, 2026.

Smaller settlements on the island include Thendal Village, Shen’dar Village, Falaath Village and the Shrine of Akir, and the ship itself puts down at the Valanaar Skydocks. Because the whole zone is flagged as a Sanctuary, no player-versus-player combat happens while you are on it.

Route from Stormwind to Dalaran (Skydome Portal)

Dalaran sits in the Alterac Mountains in the northern Eastern Kingdoms, and the fastest approach from Stormwind is the portal room above the Wizard’s Sanctum. Skip this section entirely if you are already standing in the city.

Travel to the Mage Quarter in Stormwind City and head for the tall tower at its edge. Cross the bridge and enter the Wizard’s Sanctum.

Run up the blue spiral ramp inside the tower and pass through the large swirling doorway at the top. This drops you into the upper portal chamber.

Find the Skydome Portal to Dalaran beside the bookshelf and click it. A loading screen follows, and you land in Dalaran at The Sky Enclave.

Open the Eastern Kingdoms map once you land to confirm you are in the Alterac Mountains, north of Hillsbrad and west of the Western Plaguelands.

Boarding the skycutter in Dalaran

The dock is not at street level. It is an open-air platform off the upper floor of the Violet Citadel, and the ship only stops there for a short window each cycle.

Make your way to the Violet Citadel, the temple building at the centre of Dalaran, and go inside. The city map marks your position if you lose your bearings.

Go up to floor two, then leave the temple through the route leading to the outside balcony at the building’s edge. Arcanists occupy the corridors on the way, while the mailbox positioned on the balcony provides a dependable marker.

Wait on the balcony. The skycutter runs on a loop and pulls in roughly every 5 to 10 minutes, so a cold start can mean standing around for a few minutes.

Step onto the wooden deck once the vessel docks, then stay aboard. There is a gap between the balcony and the hull, so walk on rather than trying to jump across at the last second.

How to confirm you arrived at Valanaar

A system message fires in chat when the ship pulls in, so you do not have to watch the sky the whole time:

The skycutter bound for Zephras Isle has arrived. Take care while you board it.

During the vessel’s ascent, the zone label changes to Zephras Isle (Sanctuary). Opening the map then displays Zephras Isle’s layout rather than the Eastern Kingdoms. Travel proceeds automatically in one direction, with no steering required and no stop that can be missed.

The trip ends at the Valanaar Skydocks, with floating buildings and bridges coming into view as the ship closes in. When the zone text reads Valanaar (Sanctuary) and you can step off onto the wooden landing platform, you are in the Skyborne capital and free to cross the bridge into the settlement proper.
