Morphling’s Memory is a spot-the-imposter puzzle scattered around Idyll. You touch a stone tablet, get pulled into a small arena full of one Aniimo species, and have to pick out the single fake hiding among them. Tag the right one and you walk away with a Mask Fragment and a small pile of resources.
Quick answer: There are five Morphling’s Memory puzzles, all in Breezy Plains. In each, use your ranged skill on the one fake Aniimo behaving oddly to claim a Mask Fragment plus Glimmer, Credits, and Growth Flowers.

How Morphling’s Memory works
Each puzzle drops you next to a group of identical Aniimo. One of them is a disguised Morphling. It gives itself away by behaving differently from the rest, either standing completely still while the others play, or showing an emotion that does not match the group.
Once you have picked out the odd one, stand in front of it and use your ranged skill. That is Q on keyboard, or L1/LB on a controller. The fake collapses into a Mask Fragment, and the puzzle completes.
There are no prerequisites and no penalty for guessing wrong. Pick the wrong Aniimo and you are simply ejected from the memory. Touch the same stone tablet again to reset the puzzle and try once more.
If you are unsure, open your Aniilog and check how that species normally moves. Nimbi, for example, avoid interacting with other Aniimo, so a Nimbi cozying up to an Emberpup is the tell.

| Location | Fake Aniimo | How it stands out |
|---|---|---|
| Nimbi | Sits idle on a leaf, near an Emberpup | |
| Susuta | Odd walk near the clam | |
| Fentuft | Not playing in the snow, off to one side | |
| Bulbly | Does not glow or release light waves | |
| Pomegg | Walks instead of rolling |
The Argent Strait
Reach the southwestern waypoint by fast travel, then follow the cliff west. In the grassy meadow, the stone tablet is located at -1751, 0563.

Inside, you will find a group of Nimbi. The fake is the one perched on a leaf that stays idle and cozies up to a nearby Emberpup instead of keeping to itself. Hit it with your ranged skill to grab the Mask Fragment.

Echoback Landing
Head to Echoback Landing and look northeast of the RV Park, overlooking the coast. The tablet is around -1656, 1529.

The target here is a fake Susuta with a strange walk, moving near a pink clam. Wait until it steps away from the clam, then use your ranged skill on the Susuta.

Do not hit the clam next to the Susuta. Aim the ranged skill only at the walking Susuta while it is away from the clam.
Driftwise Meadow
Go west of Driftwise Meadow, northeast of Mistwoods. The stone tablet sits beside an icy patch of ground to the southwest, near -0593, 1239.

You are looking for a fake Fentuft among a group playing in the snow. The imposter stays on the grass instead of the snow and sits off to one side, isolated from the rest. Tag it with your ranged skill.

Tideblossom Coast
Fast travel to Tideblossom Coast and head south along the shore. The tablet is around -0250, 0210, across the Bloom.
You are dealing with a counterfeit Bulbly. A genuine Bulbly cheerfully sends a ring of golden light outward from its body. The fake remains stationary and produces no glow or other light as you approach. Hit it with your ranged skill to transform it into a Mask Fragment.
Zephyrus Landbridge
Head north in Zephyrus Landbridge, past the mushroom-shaped rock formations. The tablet sits near 0399, 1839, surrounded by Highland Pomeggs.
The fake Pomegg does not roll like the others. Instead of tumbling around, it simply walks from one point to another. Watch the group for the one that never rolls, then use your ranged skill to finish the last puzzle.
Morphling’s Memory rewards
Every puzzle hands out the same set of items when you tag the correct fake Aniimo.
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Glimmer | 25 |
| 1 | |
| Credits | 10,000 |
| Growth Flower | 4 |
How to confirm a puzzle is done
You know a puzzle worked when the fake Aniimo you tag breaks apart into a Mask Fragment and the reward items drop into your inventory. If nothing happens and you get pushed out of the arena, you targeted the wrong creature, so touch the tablet again to reset and retry.
Collecting the Mask Fragment from all five Morphling’s Memories completes the set, which lets you claim Morphling itself as one of your Aniimo.
