Server chat in Aion 2 moves fast, and a single tab can pile up faction shouts, party messages, system notices, and combat readouts all at once. The game lets you decide exactly which of those message types appear in each chat tab, so you can keep one tab quiet for questing and another busy for group play.

Quick answer: Open the chat window, click the gear icon marked Chat Settings, select a tab, then check or uncheck the message types you want in that tab. Close the box to apply.

Open the Chat Settings panel

Bring up the chat window by holding Alt or pressing the / key. This switches your cursor into a mode you can use to click interface elements.
Open the full chat window by clicking the chat icon at the screen’s bottom-left corner.
In the window’s upper-left corner, locate the gear icon. Hover on it to reveal the Chat Settings label, then click the icon. A dialog opens with two tabs: Default Settings and Blocked List.

Choose which message types appear in a tab

Inside the Default Settings tab, first pick the chat tab you want to adjust. Each tab keeps its own filter, so Common and Party can show completely different message sets. Once a tab is selected, check or uncheck the message types below to curate what shows up there.

The message types you can toggle are:

  • Common, Faction, Event, Whisper, Shout
  • Party, Force, Legion, Dungeon
  • Emote, NPC Talk
  • System Notifications, Combat

If you have the Common tab selected, turning off System Notifications and Combat clears out the automated readouts that otherwise bury player messages.

Each channel also has a one-letter shortcut you type into the chat box to post there, which makes it easier to know what you are filtering. The main ones are listed below.

Common/s
Faction/t
Event/e
Whisper/w
Shout/h
Party/p
Force/f
Legion/l
Dungeon/d

Display time and auto translate toggles

The same Default Settings tab holds a few display options that change how every message reads rather than which messages appear. You can turn a timestamp on or off, switch that timestamp between local and server time, and enable Auto Translate so messages from other languages are converted for you.

Auto Translate sits at the bottom of the settings list. Scroll down and flip its switch to On to translate incoming chat automatically.

Block a specific player

To silence one person rather than a whole channel, right-click their name and select Block. That mutes them completely, so their messages stop reaching you across every channel. Everyone you have blocked shows up under the Blocked List tab in the Chat Settings box, where you can review who is currently muted.

Confirm your filters are working

Close the Default Settings dialog box and the changes take effect immediately. The chat hubs themselves stay visible on screen, but the message types you unchecked no longer scroll through. If a tab you trimmed goes quiet while others keep updating, your filters are applied correctly.
