Camping in Norgan works the same way as anywhere else in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the snowy north gives you a dedicated piece of gear for it and a tent option you will not see elsewhere. You pitch a tent at a campfire ring, grill meat for stat boosts, change your skills, and sit out bad weather until the skies clear.

Quick answer: Carry an Arctic Camping Kit, walk to a campfire ring, pick “Light fire” then “Make Camp”, choose the kit, and confirm. A tent and cooking pot appear so you can rest, cook, or wait out the weather.

The Arctic Camping Kit and where to get it

Classed as an Implements item, the Arctic Camping Kit weighs 5.00 kg. Its description notes that it allows camp to be set up at appropriate sites and is specially reinforced to endure monsters roaming Norgandian lands. Because 5.00 kg makes it one of the heavier items to carry, keep a single kit with the Arisen rather than weighing them down with several.

You can grab a free one straight away. A small dark hut in the Norgandian Settlement has a kit lying on the floor with a “Pick Up” prompt, next to Dried Hare Meat on the racks, a Climbing Hook, and Dried Meat.

To buy more, visit Hal, the smith in the Norgandian Settlement. Each kit costs 3,000 G, with one in stock and one more arriving each day. The sell price is 900 G.

How to make camp, menu by menu

Walk up to a ring of stones and choose “Light fire”. Clear out any foes nearby first, or you risk being ambushed while you rest.
The “Make camp?” prompt gives you three choices: “Make Camp”, “Equip Skills Without Camping”, and “Cancel”. Pick “Make Camp” to set up the tent. Choose the second option instead if you only want to swap skills without pitching anything.

The “Choose a camping kit.” screen lists the kits you are carrying with their count, weight, and description. Select the Arctic Camping Kit.

Confirm at the “Use Arctic Camping Kit?” prompt with “Yes”. The tent goes up beside the fire, the fire gains a pot with a “Cook” prompt, the tent gets an “Examine” option, and the stools offer “Sit”.

Examine the tent to open “Rest in the Tent”, which lists “Rest till Morning”, “Rest till Nightfall”, “Equip Skills”, “Await Weather Change” at most camps, and “Cancel”. A full night’s rest ends the camp on its own, and morning arrives with the kit back in your pack.

To leave without sleeping, just walk away from the pitched camp. A “Break camp?” prompt appears; choosing “Yes” packs the tent and returns the kit to your inventory.

What Await Weather Change does

“Await Weather Change” is the fourth line of the tent menu. Pick it and the game asks, “It may take some time for the weather to change. Are you sure you wish to wait?” with “Yes” and “No”.

Say “Yes” and the screen fades to black. When it returns you are back at the cold fire ring with the camp gone, the “Arctic Camping Kit” notice on the right showing the kit back in your pack, and the “Light fire” prompt available again on the ring. Time passes across the wait, so skies that were dusk beforehand can shift to night with snow afterward.

The game’s own tip reminds you that if bad weather drags on, you can always wait for the skies to clear at a campsite. Meals cooked at camp also temporarily raise your thermal value, which helps against the chilled debilitation during a whiteout.

The tent menu inside the cave at Gagana’s Grotto has no “Await Weather Change” line, ending at “Equip Skills” instead.

Cooking Alpine Hare Meat for stat boosts

Choosing “Cook” at the fire opens “Select ingredients.” with every piece of meat you carry and an Effects box on the right. Pick a meat, confirm at the “Use Alpine Hare Meat?” prompt, and a short clip of it frying in the skillet plays. Afterward small boost icons sit under the party’s bars.

Alpine Hare Meat weighs 0.20 kg and shows Strength +++, Defense +++, and Stamina +++ when cooked. It is meat taken from the alpine hare, which occurs exclusively in Norgan.

Meat quality matters. Hare meat ages into stronger forms, so check what your stock has turned into before you cook. Aged Alpine Hare Meat gives the strongest meal of the three, with Strength ++++, Defense ++++, Stamina ++++, and Recovery ++++. The game’s own tip confirms that finer meat grants a greater increase.

Alpine Hare Meat drops from hares along the settlement trails. At Northwall Campground, two pieces are on the floor beside a Boreal Tuber. Dried Hare Meat can be found hanging in the settlement hut and inside the wooden chest at Rivercave Campground.

Hare meat reference values

The different hare meat varieties have distinct healing amounts and prices. Combine two Aged Alpine Hare Meat to make one Dried Hare Meat. Eating Rotten Alpine Hare Meat causes the blighted debilitation.

Cooking without a kit

Three places let you cook without pitching a tent. The floor hearth in the middle of the Norgandian Inn has its own “Cook” prompt, and you can examine the bed to rest while Dwayne is at his post. Northwall Campground and Castletown Campground both have fires already burning, so the “Cook” prompt is there the moment you walk in.

Camp spots across Norgan

Named campgrounds appear as a banner and each holds a Norgan Portcrystal. Elsewhere you pitch your own kit at a plain ring of stones. More campsites exist in Norgan than the eight below; this is a working set to get you resting and cooking.

At the pillared overlook in Ettam Forest, choosing “Light fire” can return the message “The wind is too strong to light a fire here.” and no camp can be set up at that moment. Keep an eye out for plumes of smoke; they mark the locations of campfires at which you can make camp.

Habits that make camping smoother

  • Clear nearby foes before you camp, or you may be woken by an ambush.
  • Use “Equip Skills Without Camping” at any fire ring to swap skills without using a kit.
  • Keep one Arctic Camping Kit on the Arisen, since at 5.00 kg it weighs down the pack.
  • A pawn with the orienteer specialization can supply meat when you have none. It waits by the fire and cooks dishes whose effects are boosted for the entire party.

An orienteer pawn earns its place twice over, since the same specialization lets pawns guide you to campsites even during a whiteout. With a kit in your pack, a steady supply of hare meat, and a sense for which rings will catch a flame, Norgan’s cold stops being a wall and becomes just another part of the route.
