How to Play Aniimo Solo: What Works and the Three Co-op Walls

Aniimo looks like an online-only game that pushes you toward other players, but the default state is one person alone in a private world. You opt into company by inviting a guest or joining someone else’s session. Everything else — catching, the main story, world bosses, the farm — happens by yourself unless you decide otherwise.

Quick answer: You can play Aniimo solo. It runs in your own private world by default, but it needs a constant internet connection, and 3 of its 17 Sanctums require a second player.

Solo does not mean offline: an internet connection is required

The main restriction is that Aniimo must stay connected to the internet. It offers neither offline play nor a local client for solo play. On PS5, online access is explicitly required; the Steam listing specifies broadband internet for both minimum and recommended specs. The store’s “single-player” tag indicates that you can play by yourself, not without a connection.

That rules it out for flights and commutes through dead zones, and a stable connection matters throughout a 30-minute Egg Heist run. If offline play is a priority when choosing a game, this is the first thing to consider.

Aniimo handles sessions more like Genshin than Pokémon: you have a personal world and build your own roster. When someone visits, both players keep their catches separately; playing together lets each player make catches instead of dividing them between you.

What a solo player can finish

Almost everything. The content that drives progression is built for one person and asks for no co-op at all.

  • The main story campaign and side quests across the continent of Idyll
  • World exploration, catching, and filling out your Aniimo roster
  • Elite Training and the Core Path, which raise your level cap
  • Alpha and Omega world bosses, which spawn in your own world per Primegy attempt
  • The Holo-Battle Simulator roguelite endgame mode
  • 14 of the 17 Sanctums

The Core Path is the thread that gates your progress, and every task on it is soloable. Finishing it raises your level cap and opens the rest of the game, so it is the natural spine of a solo playthrough. Lumen Amber feeds into this too. Pick them up when you see them, since infusing them into the Breeze Plains branch unlocks permanent quality-of-life perks like a higher capture rate, weather control, and faster Prismana spawns.

The three Sanctums that need a second player

Exploration has just one firm barrier for a solo player: three Sanctums require two sets of hands. In each, one player must stay on a pressure plate as the other makes it across a gap, leaving no way for one person to reach the exit. The loot in their chests is valuable enough that passing them up has a real cost.

You don’t need a regular co-op group to handle them: matchmaking is available at all three, letting you queue up with a partner. No special gear is needed to enter a co-op Sanctum, since its Aniimo abilities are supplied by statues inside. You only need to locate a nearby teleporter to get to the entrance. A guest’s story and waypoint progress applies only to the host, so have the player who is further behind host the session.

Running Operation: Egg Heist on your own

Operation: Egg Heist opens at level 50 and Wayfarer III. Team Mode supports one to three players; solo queues aren’t filled with other players, so you won’t be paired with strangers. Normal is tuned for one player, requires no entry rank, deals much less damage than Hard, and awards the same Prismana Shell Shards at the end. A run has a 30-minute limit, though a focused Normal clear takes roughly eight minutes.

The run follows a clear sequence: arrive on the Lost Isles next to your Egg Boat, break into the Lost Sanctum, dig an egg from a guarded nest, then twine with it and roll it back to the boat for submission and evacuation. The run only banks if you evacuate safely; the Adventure Successful results screen confirms it. You can also find valuable loot right on the beach: chests and debris piles there may contain epics or even legendaries, without a trip into the Sanctum.

If you faint, you lose your entire backpack and all equipped items. In a solo run, no teammate is there to revive you. Self-Revival works only when a teammate is still alive, so it has no effect when you’re alone; put those points elsewhere. Beginner Protection insures your first three rounds at every difficulty and returns your gear in full if you fail to extract during that period.

The six-team operation is the one mode solo cannot reach

The adjacent operation requires a higher Egg Heist rank and won’t begin until six full teams have joined. It puts as many as six teams of three into one arena to pursue a single prize egg. Solo entry isn’t available, so this is strictly a group mode.

Homeland, the RV, and daily solo systems

The RV is your personal base

Homeland on your RV supports a solo playthrough. With an RV at level one, you must place structures, sow seeds, and harvest crops yourself. As the RV gains levels, you can assign Aniimo to automate production; Homeland can then produce items such as Aniipods and evolution items, and act as an extra hatchery for eggs. It stays a private base rather than a co-op space, and is the main way to make a solo run self-sufficient.

Café rewards without talking to anyone

The Star-Crossed Tea Party runs at the main city café around evening hours and nudges players to mingle for Voxel Coins and Stamps. You do not have to chat with anyone. Simply take a seat and stay for about half an hour, and the rewards accrue while you are there. You will see other players, but most are only there to claim and leave.

Completing the collection solo

Prismana Aniimo are the version of a species you want for late-game encounters, and you catch them yourself by triggering a Prismana Flow while nurturing blooms. Because your world is yours alone, your Prismana levels on Wild Surges cannot be knocked down by other players, so you can chase them at your own pace.

At present, getting one Aniimo requires paid content. Prismana Fulmintis is available only after you reach level 20 in the premium tier of the Companion Handbook Advanced Edition. The developers have said they plan to let players visit the worlds of owners and catch it there, but for now, the paid pass is the only solo way to obtain it. Apart from that exception, you can play through the entire game alone at your own pace.
