Dragonsplague is a contagious illness that only affects pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It never shows up in the status menu, so you have to catch it by behavior and treat it yourself. Left alone, an infected pawn can transform while you sleep and wipe out an entire town’s NPCs, which makes clearing it quickly worth the effort.

Quick answer: Give the afflicted pawn a Dragonsbaulk Draught, or force the pawn to become forfeit (drown it or let its downed revive timer expire) and re-summon it at a Riftstone to cure it for free.

Spot the infected pawn before you treat it

Pawns cannot tell whether they are sick, so the Arisen has to decide when to act. The first time any pawn catches the plague you get a one-time tutorial warning, but every infection after that goes unannounced. Watch for these signs in your own main pawn and in any hired pawns.

  • Irises glow and flicker red; zoom in with Photo Mode and lower the brightness to see it clearly.
  • The pawn ignores your orders in and out of combat and refuses to fall back.
  • Bold, boastful dialogue that is unlike a normal pawn (“I feel nigh invincible!”).
  • Headaches, coughing, forehead-wiping, or other restless idle animations.

Some pawns in the Rift wear hoods that hide their eyes. If you cannot inspect a pawn’s eyes before hiring, treat it as a risk and pick another.

Cure it with a Dragonsbaulk Draught

Dragonsbaulk Draught has no smell or flavor and has no effect on a healthy character. Give it to a pawn with dragonsplague to cure the affliction completely. It’s the cleanest solution because you keep your main pawn and don’t depend on another player’s game.

Buy it at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store

Ibrahim sells the draught at his Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town for 10,000 G. Stock is limited to one at a time and restocks by one every 10 in-game days, so you often arrive to find it sold out. Open the world map and set a marker on Checkpoint Rest Town, then head there.

Run through town to Ibrahim’s shop and check his wares. When a draught is in stock it appears in the seller’s list; if it reads sold out, come back after several in-game days or craft one instead.

Craft it from a Wyrmslife Crystal and an Allheal Elixir

Because the shop stock is so thin, crafting is the more reliable supply. One Dragonsbaulk Draught is made by combining a Wyrmslife Crystal with an Allheal Elixir. Here is how to collect both.

Pick up an Allheal Elixir. The simplest route is to trade 5 Norgan Ducats to Dwayne at the Norganian Inn. You can also buy one from Eldart’s Apothecary for 10,000 G, or find them as drops from several large monsters, including Drakes.

Free ways to remove the plague without a draught

If you do not have a draught on hand, there are cost-free methods that work just as well.

Forfeit your main pawn, then re-summon

When your own main pawn is infected, cause it to become forfeit. Throw it into deep water, or let it go down in combat and allow the revive timer to run out. Losing all its health to a fall works too. Summon the pawn again at any Riftstone and it returns cured.

Dismiss an infected hired pawn

If a hired pawn carries the plague, simply dismiss it and hire a different one. Be aware the plague can already have jumped to another pawn in your party, so inspect the rest before heading out again.

Pass it to another pawn by resting

Resting by a campfire with pawns who are uninfected can pass the plague from your main pawn to a hired pawn, curing your main pawn. Dismiss the newly infected hire afterward and recruit a healthy replacement.

Do not rest at an inn or your home while a pawn is at the terminal stage. The pawn can transform and kill the town’s NPCs. If that happens, revive them at the Vermund Charnel House or the Battahl Morgue, or use an Eternal Wakestone to bring many back at once.

The Allheal Elixir restores all health and stamina and clears every standard debilitation, so it is useful to carry even outside of crafting. The Dragonsbaulk Draught, by contrast, has no effect on anyone except a plagued pawn.

How to confirm the cure worked

After you give the draught to an afflicted pawn, the infection is gone and the warning signs stop. The eyes return to normal and the pawn follows orders again. With the forfeit method, the pawn comes back clear the moment you re-summon it at a Riftstone. In every case the pawn can catch dragonsplague again later, so keep checking eyes whenever you hire or rest.
