Qingzhou: Melodies of Secrets Walkthrough in Where Winds Meet

Qingzhou: Melodies of Secrets is a short exploration quest in Where Winds Meet that sends you to Eastern Peak to recover a rare instrument called the Earthsong Xun. The catch is that the item never sits on the ground waiting for you. A bird carries it overhead, and you have to shoot the bird down with a bow before you can collect it.

Quick answer: Speak with Qu Yingjie and Xiao Pixiu on the cliffside at Eastern Peak, shoot down the bird carrying the Earthsong Xun, pick it up from the ledge, then submit it to Qu Yingjie to finish the quest.

Where to start Qingzhou: Melodies of Secrets

The quest begins at Eastern Peak in the Qingzhou region, on a mountain trail near Hexi Temple. Eastern Peak is the first area you can explore when you arrive in Qingzhou, so you will pass through it early in the region. Head to the cliffside path where Qu Yingjie and Xiao Pixiu are standing to trigger the opening conversation.

Qingzhou itself unlocks once you reach Character Level 32 and finish the Chapter 1: Heaven Has No Pier main story quest, which opens the Away to Qingzhou lost chapter. If you cannot reach Eastern Peak yet, clear those two requirements first.

How to complete the quest

Go to the mountain path at Eastern Peak and talk to Qu Yingjie and Xiao Pixiu. They report that a bird overhead is making a strange sound; shoot it down to retrieve the instrument it carries.

With your bow equipped, aim skyward from the cliff edge. Watch for the bird with the Earthsong Xun and follow its flight until it is within range, then fire an arrow to bring it down. Your objective now says “Find a way to obtain the Earthsong Xun.”

Once the bird falls, glide down along the cliff edge to the lower ledge where the instrument lands. Approach the glowing item and press F to collect the Earthsong Xun.

Return to Qu Yingjie and press F to “Submit Oddities.” This opens the Melodies of Peace screen, where the Earthsong Xun slots into the collection tree.

From the Melodies of Peace menu, find the Earthsong Xun in The Music of Kaiping I and press Space to activate its node. Then conclude your conversation with Qu Yingjie, and the quest will be complete.

What the Earthsong Xun node gives you

Activating the Earthsong Xun in the Melodies of Peace tree is a permanent stat upgrade, not a one-time quest reward. Slotting it into The Music of Kaiping I grants a flat boost to two stats.

Qu Yingjie works the same way as the Oddities vendors in earlier regions. Keep collecting Oddities across Qingzhou and submitting them here to unlock more nodes and stack additional permanent upgrades.

How to confirm the quest is done

You know the quest is complete when Qingzhou: Melodies of Secrets appears marked as finished and the reward summary pops up listing the Echo Jade, Coins, Stored EXP, and Qingzhou Exploration points. A system message confirming the Stored EXP gain also appears on screen as the dialogue closes.

With the Earthsong Xun submitted and the node activated, the Martial Mastery and Max HP bonuses apply immediately, and Qu Yingjie remains available for any further Oddities you bring back from Qingzhou.
