Enshrouded: How to Find the Lost Equipment Chest at Carpentry Camp

Reach Cade Hawthorn's former camp southwest of Revelwood and dig up the buried chest to finish Oswald Anders' Chest.

Reach Cade Hawthorn’s former camp southwest of Revelwood and dig up the buried chest to finish Oswald Anders’ Chest.

Oswald Anders’ Chest is a Blacksmith side quest in Enshrouded that sends you to recover a lost equipment chest at Carpentry Camp. The objective, “Find the Lost Equipment Chest,” points you to Cade Hawthorn’s former camp, but the chest itself is buried under a mound of rubble, so you need a pickaxe to reach it.

Quick answer: Travel to Carpentry Camp southwest of Ancient Spire – Revelwood, equip a pickaxe, and dig up the dark rubble mound outside the main tent next to the wooden cart to uncover the chest.

What you need before starting

The quest is handed to you by the Blacksmith after you complete Carpentry Assistance. Once it is active, two things make the trip quick and keep you from arriving unprepared.

  • A pickaxe such as the Scrappy Pickaxe, equipped before you set out.
  • An unlocked Ancient Spire – Revelwood fast travel point to use as your starting jump.
  • The quest marker set as your waypoint so the camp shows on your map.

Carpentry Camp sits in the Forest, south of Diadwyn and west of the Revelwood Spire. Setting the quest marker places a yellow diamond on your map and HUD that leads you straight there.

Travel to Carpentry Camp from Ancient Spire – Revelwood

Use fast travel to reach Ancient Spire – Revelwood, the nearest point you’ve unlocked; its elevation lets you fly over to the camp.
Leap off the spire balcony and glide southwest through the fog toward the forest floor. Hold your glide and follow the quest marker as you descend.

Land on the rocky cliffs near the marker and continue on foot down through the trees into the camp. You will pass an open campsite with a wooden cart and a large dark tent.

When you arrive, the location marker confirms you are at Carpentry Camp. It is a small site compared with the larger settlements in the region, with skeletons on cots inside the tent.

Dig up the buried chest

There is a normal chest and some table loot inside the large tent, and you can take all of it. That is not the quest chest, though. The one you need is hidden, as the objective hints when it says to “unearth” it.

Go to the dark mound of dirt and rubble just outside the entrance of the main tent, next to the wooden handcart. This mound is where the chest is buried.
Equip your pickaxe and strike the rubble pile repeatedly until the chest is fully exposed. Keep mining until no more dirt covers it.

Open the uncovered chest. This claims its contents and marks the objective complete.

Reward and how to confirm completion

Opening the chest displays the notice “QUEST COMPLETED! Oswald Anders’ Chest” and awards XP. This run’s contents were the rare one-handed level 13 sword Wolf’s Maw, plus 250 XP.

Wolf’s Maw carries these stats as a melee weapon:

StatValue
TypeOne-Handed Sword
Rarity / LevelRare, Level 13
Damage29
Cutting29
Attack Speed0.6s

The weapon the chest hands out can differ between playthroughs. Other recoveries have produced the rare two-handed Club of Defiance or armor pieces such as Archer Trousers and Archer Gloves, so do not be surprised if your loot is not Wolf’s Maw.

Once the completion message appears and the objective is checked off in your Journal, the quest is finished and you are free to leave the camp or clear out the nearby cave with your pickaxe before moving on.
