How to Win the Crownleek Contest in Where Winds Meet

Winning first place at the Crownleek Contest in Where Winds Meet comes down to one thing: the leek you hand over. An ordinary leek will not beat the field, no matter how you grow it. You need a specific quest reward called the Heart-Seeking Leek, and once you submit it, the judges award a perfect score automatically.

Quick answer: Finish the Wandering Tales quest “The Way of the Leek” to get the Heart-Seeking Leek, then submit it to Song Yiqian at Crownleek Terrace for a guaranteed perfect score.

Where the Crownleek Contest is held

The contest takes place at Crownleek Terrace in Greenshade Village, inside the Qingzhou Eastern Peak region. The organizer, Song Yiqian, stands by the contest board and greets challengers bluntly: “Take a good look before you enter! If your leeks can’t beat this batch, then don’t bother signing up!” That warning is the hint that a standard leek will not cut it here.

Get the Heart-Seeking Leek first

The winning entry is the Heart-Seeking Leek, and it only comes from completing a Wandering Tales quest. You cannot plant, buy, or craft it. Its in-game description makes the point plainly: “With jade stalks and sword-straight leaves, it bows to no gods. Where there is a will, there is a leek, what else could claim the crown?”

Open your Journal and go to Exploration, then Wandering Tales. Find “The Way of the Leek” listed under Greenshade Village Part 1 and complete it. The quest involves the Inkbound Order disciple Zhu Ling, who plants the leek as a gift of thanks.

Check that the Heart-Seeking Leek is in your bag. If your inventory is full when the quest ends, the item will not go straight into it.

If it is missing, open the Jianghu Courier Station and look under Lost Reward. The leek waits there as a claimable item, so collect it before heading to the contest.

The Heart-Seeking Leek shows as a Common Item with “Owned: 1” in your bag, so a quick inventory check confirms you are ready before you talk to Song Yiqian.

Submit the leek and take first place

At Crownleek Terrace, go to the Crownleek Contest signpost and talk with Song Yiqian.

Choose the Submit option, then pick the Heart-Seeking Leek from the list rather than any ordinary leek you may be carrying.

The Judging Panel scores the leek across Length, Taste, and Color. The Heart-Seeking Leek takes a perfect 100 in Length and maxes out Taste and Color, defeating 100% of the villagers and winning outright.

An award ceremony cutscene plays afterward. The villagers praise the leek, and Yan Dacong presents a crate of leek sauce to your character.
