Grandleaf Cabbage Rolls

Grandleaf Cabbage is a Common vegetable that grows only in Cinder’s Cradle, the lava region added with Enshrouded 1.0. You harvest it by chopping large fan-leaf plants with an axe, and the easiest reliable spot is a cave called Cave Passage in the north of that region.

Quick answer: From the Ancient Gate, head north into the volcanic biome and go inside Cave Passage. Use any axe to fell the large, fan-shaped plants there and collect the Grandleaf Cabbage they drop.

What you need before you go

Cinder’s Cradle sits north of the Veilwater Basin and stays closed until the main quest opens its gates, so you need progression far enough to reach it. Bring an axe and expect a hot, hostile environment on the way in.

  • Access to Cinder’s Cradle through the Ancient Gate.
  • Any axe. A higher-tier tool like the Gilded Axe clears the plants faster but is not required.
  • Optional: the Farmer’s Crops of Cinder’s Cradle quest, which points you to the same Cave Passage location.

Route to Cave Passage and how to harvest

On the world map, identify the Ancient Gate, which lies north of Starfish Shores and Cromwell Hot Spring. Follow the route straight north from the gate to the marker labelled Cave Passage.

Cross the Ancient Gate into the volcanic biome, then take the rocky trail north. It passes glowing lava veins and leads toward a dark cave mouth in the rock.

Enter the tunnel and keep going until the interior opens into a chamber lit by blue lanterns and filled with lush greenery. The large, palm-like fan plants standing in that foliage are the ones that hold Grandleaf Cabbage.

Strike the fan plants with your axe until they break apart, then press E to collect the dropped loot. Each plant can give several Grandleaf Cabbage at once, alongside Twigs, Plant Fiber, and the occasional Venom Stinger.

You will know it worked when a “Grandleaf Cabbage +3” (or similar) pickup notification appears and the item lands in your backpack. Picking up your first one also unlocks its cooking and farming recipes in your crafting menus.

What Grandleaf Cabbage cooks into

Collecting the cabbage unlocks two Kitchen dishes, plus a seedling for growing your own and two color palettes. The cooked dishes last an hour and give stronger, more specialised bonuses than the raw plant.

Both dishes are made at the Kitchen and use 5 Grandleaf Cabbage per batch. If you want a steady supply without returning to Cave Passage, craft a Grandleaf Cabbage Seedling at the Seedbed from 1 Grandleaf Cabbage and 1 Basalt Farm Soil. Each planting makes 5 seedlings, grows in Basalt Farm Soil, and the mature plant can be chopped for 10 cabbage across its drops.

Plant a few seedlings at your base early. Once they mature you never need to run the Cave Passage route again for cooking stock.
