Enshrouded 1.0: Where to Find the Fisher (Captain Melville Fontane)

The Fisher in Enshrouded 1.0 is Captain Melville Fontane, a retired captain turned innkeeper and fisher. You recruit him by finishing the main quest “Emerald Shores And Sanguine Seas” in the Veilwater Basin, which ends with you finding his soul and summoning him.

This main quest walks you from the passage into the Veilwater Basin and on to the captain’s soul. Work through its stages in order.

Reach the Veilwater Basin Passage. The quest opens with: “The Flame has notified you about a disturbance in nearby waters. Unknown, new lands require your aid — but to understand the threat plaguing the shores, you will need help. First, you must reach the passage that leads into the newly opened valley!”

Traverse through the passage into the basin. The game tells you: “You’ve reached the passage leading to the nearby Veilwater Basin. Proceed through the passage and reach the other side to gain a glimpse of the new, glistening blue horizons beyond!”

Search the nearby settlement for clues about a guiding soul. The objective reads: “You successfully set foot in a new area — the Veilwater Basin. The Flame said that traversing these lands and fighting the brewing threat within will require aid. You feel called to investigate a nearby settlement for clues towards a pure soul that can steer you on the right path.”

Travel to the island of Captain’s Rest and search it for the remains of a pure soul. The quest explains: “You’ve learned about an old sea captain. Perhaps this person could be ideal for guiding you through these unknown waters and the dangers that lie beneath. The captain often traveled to a nearby island. Reach the island and search for the remains of a pure soul there!”

Use your Summoning Staff to summon Melville Fontane, then speak to him. The final stage reads: “You’ve found the soul of Melville Fontane, a retired captain turned innkeeper and fisher. Summon him to learn more about the Veilwater Basin!”
