Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get the Kiln

Rescue the Carpenter, gather the crafting materials, and start firing bricks, clay vases, and plant pots at your base.

Rescue the Carpenter, gather the crafting materials, and start firing bricks, clay vases, and plant pots at your base.

In Enshrouded, the Kiln is a Carpenter crafting station, a rugged oven for heating and sintering raw materials. Use it to bake clay and logs into Fired Bricks and various ceramic decorations. You must have the Carpenter at your base before crafting one.

Quick answer: Free the Carpenter and take him back to your base. Have him craft a Kiln there, using 2 Twigs, 10 Metal Scraps, 50 Revelwood Stone, and 10 Lump of Clay.

Rescue the Carpenter first

The Kiln recipe only becomes available once the Carpenter is on your side. Progress through the questline to find and rescue him, then bring him back to your base so he settles in as one of your craftspeople.

Craft the Kiln at the Carpenter

Craft the Kiln at the Carpenter. First gather 2 Twigs, 10 Metal Scraps, 10 Lump of Clay, and 50 Revelwood Stone, then construct the station.

Gather 2 Twigs, 10 Metal Scraps, 50 Revelwood Stone, and 10 Lump of Clay.
Talk to the Carpenter to open his crafting menu and select the Kiln recipe.
Craft the Kiln. It drops into your inventory as a placeable station, ready to set up wherever you want to fire bricks and clay.

Place the Kiln and load a recipe

Set the Kiln down in your base where you want it. Once placed, it works as a standalone production station rather than something you operate from the Carpenter’s menu.

Interact with the Kiln, pick a recipe, and load in the required resources. The station then processes each item over its craft time and stacks up a working queue.

What the Kiln makes

Kiln recipes use Lump of Clay and logs, with requirements varying by recipe. The available logs are Hardwood, Wood Logs, Conifer Logs, Palm Wood Logs, Tropical Wood, and Bamboo Logs. Fired Bricks are the useful result; vases, pots, and plant pots are decorative options for your home.

The Kiln’s item text reads “A crude industrial oven for sintering and heating.” Fired Bricks read “Shiny red bricks that are crafted by hardening Lump of Clay under a heat even a Flameborn has issues with.” The vases, pots and plant pots are decorations: “A decorative object to design and beautify your home.”

The Kiln is not the Charcoal Kiln. The Charcoal Kiln is a separate station for Charcoal; the Kiln you build here is the Carpenter’s station for bricks, clay and ceramics.
