How to shoot 10 paratroopers out of the sky in Netshin Park on Recruit, and how to retry fast using checkpoints.

Skeet Shooting is the first achievement you can earn in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s campaign. It is also one of the easiest to miss. The chance comes a few minutes into Mayhem, the opening mission in Hajin City, South Korea. Your squad runs onto the field at Netshin Park stadium, and enemy paratroopers start dropping out of an overcast sky. You have to kill 10 of them while they are still in the air, and the drop does not last long.

Quick answer: Play Mayhem on Recruit, switch your rifle to semi-auto, and shoot 10 paratroopers before they land on the Netshin Park field. If you fall short, pause and pick LAST CHECKPOINT.

Skeet Shooting requirements and reward

The unlock text reads “Kill 10 paratroopers in ‘Mayhem’ before they hit the ground.” Any paratrooper who reaches the grass no longer counts. The goal is 10 mid-air kills from a single drop.

Difficulty is not part of the requirement, so play on Recruit. It gives you more room for mistakes while you keep your eyes on the sky. Activision has not yet confirmed the Silver tier on PlayStation. That tier comes from the trophy list as it was reported before launch. Early unlock rates sit around 0.01 percent, which means many players likely run past the drop without knowing it matters.

Set up your rifle before the paratroopers drop

You start with the campaign’s standard assault rifle, the Ham 64. On full auto, the recoil throws your shots off at the range the paratroopers fall from. Switch to semi-auto with left on the d-pad, or fire in short, controlled bursts if you stay on full auto. Lowering your field of view in the settings also makes the falling targets bigger on screen, which helps a lot.

If you are already in the mission, you can lower the difficulty without starting over. Pause the game, choose CHANGE DIFFICULTY, and select Recruit.

How to kill 10 paratroopers in Mayhem

The drop starts once your squad gets through the stadium and steps onto the field. Your objective at this point is “Follow West,” and the gate drama with Cho happens just before. When Moon says “those are not our guys” and Dunn shouts that it is an invasion, the paratroopers are on their way down.

Follow Lt. West, Cpt. Dunn, Sgt. Jae and Moon through the corridors of Netshin Park. Stay close behind them so you reach the field doorway at the same time they do.
As soon as you get through the doorway, look up and to the right. The first group of paratroopers comes down there. Try to drop three or four of them before you do anything else.

Move a short way onto the grass and follow the paratroopers falling straight ahead of you. Moving forward closes the distance and buys you time before they land.
Reload between groups, not while a paratrooper is close to the ground. Running dry right before a target lands is the easiest way to lose a kill.
Aim straight up and ahead and shoot the next two paratroopers coming down in front of you.

Turn back up and to the right for the last group. Those final paratroopers usually take you from the high single digits to 10.

Ignore the enemies who have already landed until you reach 10. Lt. West tells you to push across the field and use the crates for cover, but none of the soldiers on the ground count toward the achievement.

Retry the paratrooper drop with LAST CHECKPOINT

You see a “CHECKPOINT REACHED” message just before the field, so you do not have to replay the whole mission after a failed try. The risk is the next autosave. Stay on the field too long after the drop and the game saves past the paratroopers, and the chance is gone for that checkpoint.

If you can tell you will not reach 10, or the last paratrooper lands with no unlock, pause right away. Choose LAST CHECKPOINT, confirm YES when asked to return to the last checkpoint, and you will be back at the stadium before the drop. If a newer save has already replaced that checkpoint, use RESTART MISSION from the same pause menu.

How to confirm Skeet Shooting unlocked

The achievement unlocks as soon as your 10th paratrooper dies in the air, while you are still in the fight. You do not need to clear the field or finish Mayhem. On Xbox, a “Rare Achievement unlocked” pop-up shows “50 – MW4 – Skeet Shooting” with the paratrooper description beneath it.

To double-check, open the achievement on the Xbox dashboard. It now shows as unlocked with the date you earned it. On Xbox, MW4’s achievements are listed under the Call of Duty app as an add-on, so look for the “MW4 -” prefix there. Once it shows up, you can keep playing Mayhem normally.
