AION 2 Chalice of Muspel: Weapon Selection Chest Effects and How to Get

The Heroic chest that drops from Kaldrix lets you pick one Heroic weapon, and it is bound to the character who earns it.

The Chalice of Muspel: Weapon Selection Chest (Bound) comes from the final boss of AION 2’s Chalice of Muspel raid. When you open it, you choose one weapon instead of rolling for a random drop. It is a Heroic-grade reward chest; it works for every class, and once it lands in your inventory, it stays with that character.

Quick answer: Defeat Underground Scourge Kaldrix in the Chalice of Muspel raid (minimum item level 4,500), or make the chest through Substance Morph. Then open it and pick one Heroic weapon.

Chalice of Muspel: Weapon Selection Chest effects and properties

The chest gives no stats and no buff. It does one thing: it opens a selection window where you choose 1 Heroic Weapon. Because you make the choice, you can take the weapon type your class uses rather than hoping the boss drops the right one.

The binding limits what you can do with it. You can keep the chest in Character Storage. You cannot put it in Server Storage, sell it on Public Trade, or hand it over through Personal Trade. If you earn it on one character, you have to open it on that character.

The raid has a matching armor version, the Chalice of Muspel: Armor Selection Chest (Bound). It is also Heroic, drops from Kaldrix, and lets you pick one Heroic armor piece instead of a weapon. It can’t be traded, stacks to 999, and has a required level of 1.

How to get it from Kaldrix in Chalice of Muspel

The chest drops from Underground Scourge Kaldrix, the final boss of Chalice of Muspel. That is a 10-player raid, not a regular party dungeon. You need a full group, and there is a minimum item level of 4,500 to enter.

Before you reach Kaldrix, you fight two other bosses: the Muspel Guardian Statue at level 80 and Iscariel at level 85. Kaldrix is a level 85 Varian boss of hero rank and carries the title Underground Scourge. You fight him in the raid’s Volcano’s Heart and Scourge’s Hatchery areas.

The weapon chest is only part of what Kaldrix can drop. His reward pool also includes the Lava Heart Weapon (Extend), the Lava Heart Barrier, and the Kaldrix Brooch.

Chalice of Muspel reward counts and recharge tickets

Entering the raid and getting loot from it are tracked as separate things. The game keeps an attempt count, a reward count, and a separate Final Boss Kill Count for Kaldrix. If you run out of reward count or boss kill count, clearing the raid again won’t give you more chests. Bound tickets refill these counts. Every ticket requires level 45 and cannot be traded.

TicketRechargesMax stack
Challenge Ticket (Bound)1 attempt count1000

Reward Voucher (Bound)1 reward count1000
Reward Voucher (7 Days / 30 Days)1 reward count1
Recharge Ticket (Bound)1 attempt + 1 reward count1000
Final Boss Kill Ticket (Bound)1 Final Boss Kill Count1000

Since the weapon chest comes from Kaldrix specifically, the Final Boss Kill Ticket is the one that directly gives you another chance at it. The Recharge Ticket covers both an attempt and a reward count in one use. The 7-day and 30-day versions of the Challenge Ticket and Reward Voucher work the same way as the regular ones but only stack to 1.

Getting the chest through Substance Morph

Kaldrix isn’t the only source. The chest can also be made through Substance Morph, the game’s item conversion system, which has two conversion recipes that produce it. The chest is bound either way, so whichever character does the conversion is the character who gets to open it.

Opening the Chalice of Muspel: Weapon Selection Chest

The chest is a usable item. Use it from your inventory, and it opens a reward box that lists the Heroic weapons you can choose from. Pick the one that fits your class. You can tell it worked when the chest count in your inventory drops by one, and the weapon you chose shows up in your bag.

You only get one weapon per chest, so make sure you’re on the character and class you plan to gear before you open it. The chest can’t be moved to another character afterward.

Chests stack up to 999, so you can save several from repeat Kaldrix kills and open them later, for example, when you want to gear up a second weapon type on the same character.
