Final Fantasy Resonance: How to Raise Awakening Level (Magicite Guide)

Where awakening unlocks in Chapter 1, which Magicite each of the three levels costs, and every early source of it.

Where awakening unlocks in Chapter 1, which Magicite each of the three levels costs, and every early source of it.

Every Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance joins your roster with only part of its kit available. The rest sits behind its Awakening Level, which tops out at 3. Magicite is the only thing that raises it. You can pick up Magicite Shards from the opening hours, but you can’t spend them until a specific story beat late in Chapter 1.

Quick answer: Beat Siren’s Tower, then walk into Grandport to meet the Moogle of Light. Talk to it again to open Vision Enhancement. Spend a Magicite Shard for level 1, a Magicite for level 2, and a Magicite Cryst for level 3.

How to unlock Vision awakening in Grandport

Awakening opens during the latter part of Chapter 1 – Tailing the Truth. Until then, any Magicite you find just stays in your inventory. It doesn’t expire, so keep collecting it.

Clear Siren’s Tower and its boss. Your main objective then changes to “Ride the ship out of Grandport.”
Head into Grandport Harbor and cross the stone bridge toward the item shop. An unskippable cutscene plays where the party meets the purple-cloaked Moogle of Light. The Moogle explains Vision enhancement and gives you a free Magicite Shard.
Speak to the Moogle a second time. This opens the Vision Enhancement menu, which lists your collected Visions along with their role and Resonance.
Select a Vision and confirm the upgrade. The game asks for confirmation with a prompt such as “Consume 1 Magicite Shard to awaken Cloud?” Accept it, and the Magicite is used up and the Vision’s Awakening Level goes up by one.

To check that it worked, look at the Vision in the Vision Enhancement menu. It should show the higher Awakening Level, and its newly unlocked skills should appear there.

Magicite cost for each Awakening Level

Magicite comes in three sizes, and each size matches one Awakening Level. You can’t stack small pieces to skip ahead. Higher levels need a larger piece.

Awakening LevelMaterial consumedColosseum shop price
1Magicite Shard10,000 gil
2Magicite50,000 gil
3 (max)Magicite Cryst250,000 gil

Buying your way to level 3 costs a lot of gil. The shop is a fallback. Most Magicite comes free from chests, quests, and boss fights.

What a higher Awakening Level unlocks

Awakening isn’t a flat stat boost. Each level unlocks extra active skills and passive abilities, and what you get depends on the Vision. Leah is a good example. She starts with Cure, and awakening her adds Cura plus stronger support and light magic like Shellga, Esuna, and Banishra.

Awakening Level and Mastery Rank are separate systems. Mastery Rank goes up through combat as a Vision earns MRP. Awakening Level only goes up when you spend Magicite at the Moogle.

Where to get Magicite in Chapter 1

Magicite drops from treasure chests, unique enemies, and quests. These are the sources on the Chapter 1 map, roughly in the order you reach them.

Side quests that pay a Magicite Shard

For “Secrets Unearthed,” Chloe asks you for three Kolobos core samples. They’re marked on the overworld map. One is north of Felicitas, one is on a mountain ledge to the southwest, and one is next to the Kolobos Ruins entrance. Bring all three back to Chloe for a Magicite Shard and Monk’s Prayer Beads.

“Rear Support, Ahoy!” starts with the sailor on the Grandport docks. He sends you to the chocobo coachman in the harbor square. You then need to defeat four Human Traps, which show up in random encounters outside Grandport, and hand their extracts to the coachman. The reward is a Magicite Shard and 500 gil.

Boss drops

Siren drops a Magicite Shard on the results screen, and so does the Golem in Marauder Cave. Marauder Cave has a Recommended Level 15, so it’s worth leveling up before you go in. The Marauder is an optional superboss and the only fight in Chapter 1 that drops a full Magicite.

Oblivion Palace Tablet Shard vault

The softly glowing stones found in towns and dungeons are Tablet Shards. Across the Chapter 1 locations, there are 17 in all. Deliver them to the princess at Oblivion Palace in Lanzelt, within the Kingdom of Grandshelt. Each submission unlocks additional treasure chests behind her. Hand in nine to open chests I through III; chest III contains a Magicite Shard.

  • Second floor: two Magicite Shards
  • Third floor: one Magicite
  • Fourth floor: one Magicite Cryst

The vault is the only place in Chapter 1 to get a Magicite Cryst without paying 250,000 gil. That makes it the realistic way to take one Vision to the maximum Awakening Level early. Siren’s Tower holds three Tablet Shards on its own, so search it thoroughly on your way up to the boss.
