At the southern edge of the Nomad Highlands, Scavengers occupy Surat’s Rest, whose arena is controlled by a Scavenger Gorger Matron. From the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire, travel roughly 2.6 km south to reach the town. In the note “A Note To Kendal”, Lupa writes to her sister: “Umber Hollow isn’t any better or worse than Surat’s Rest. Two sides of the same coin, like us!”
Quick answer: From the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire, travel roughly 2.6 km south to Surat’s Rest. This town is tied to the Farmer’s almanac quest, Pit Fights, and “Nursery Supplies“, while Gabrielle Fairburn’s soul is beneath the arena’s edge.

Scavenger Gorger Matron arena in Surat’s Rest
The arena lies about 100 m south of the town marker, under the control of the Scavenger Gorger Matron, a Scavenger boss. After defeating her, find a gold chest around 15 m from her original position.
Scavenger Gorger Matrons drop the Scavenger Matron Helmet. Its item text reads: “She is less fearsome without her helmet. The acidic scent lingers, however.” You turn these helmets into trophies at the Hunter, and the four trophies together form a journal set worth 500 XP.

Almanac of Plants and Seedlings for the Farmer
This Farmer quest pays out the Almanac of Plants and Seedlings plus 250 XP. It starts somewhere else, at the Farmer’s abandoned caravan camp, and then sends you south.

The note “None Can Fool Me!” about 40 m north-east of the marker fills in the backstory. The Scavengers gave the almanac to the matron as a tribute.
Pit Fights and Gabrielle Fairburn
Pit Fights is a Nomad Highlands quest worth 125 XP, and it rewards you with Gabrielle Fairburn as a villager.

A separate note about her is called “Why Must I Waste Time As A Squire?” Find it around 110 m west of the marker; it bears the signature “Fairburn”. It is her own complaint from her days as a squire.
“Nursery Supplies”
The third quest, another Nomad Highlands task, awards 125 XP. To begin, read ‘Mind the “Nursery Supplies”‘ roughly 130 m north of the marker. It explains that crates labeled “Nursery Supplies” conceal weapons intended for the Contractor’s rebel army, with the goods buried at a marked location. The journal then gives you “Find The Contraband”: locate the stash somewhere in Surat’s Rest and take its contents.
The note warns: “Several are packed with powerful explosives, so handle them with utmost care!”
Surat’s Rest collectibles, notes and chests
Outside the quests, the town is packed with unique pickups. The music sheet “Of Daggers And Wine” is about 60 m north of the marker. Its text reads “A music sheet for a dramatic song fit for nights of devilry.”, and picking it up teaches you the song.

| Item | Type | Where from the town marker |
|---|---|---|
| Of Daggers And Wine | Music sheet | About 60 m north |
| Ornate Flute | Music instrument | About 40 m east |
| Servant Of Chaos | Epic decoration (painting) | About 80 m east |
| Larger Sea Lily Fossil | Fossil | About 80 m north-east |
| Limestone Block | Building block | About 115 m south-east |
Lore notes are scattered all over town too. A few tie into other threads. “None Can Fool Me!” mentions a scavenger called Thor who keeps his own loot “at the top of that old watchtower”, and “The Fearsome Dragon” has a scavenger swearing he saw a dragon in a cave.
| Note | Where from the town marker | Story thread |
|---|---|---|
| The Night Is Ruined! | About 20 m east | The Honeydews’ breakup |
| The Band Is History | About 40 m east | Miles Rapore of The Honeydews |
| None Can Fool Me! | About 40 m north-east | Caravan Raid |
| Crimes Of Surat’s Rest | About 60 m west | As Above So Below |
| A Note To Kendal | About 70 m south-west | Sister, Sister |
| Alright Guys, This Isn’t Funny | About 80 m north | Face Painting |
| The Fearsome Dragon | About 105 m north | Rumors Of The Dragon Cave |
“A Note To Kendal” is the letter Lupa wrote to her sister Kendal, and it’s where the Umber Hollow line comes from. In “The Band Is History”, Miles Rapore brings up his flute; the Ornate Flute lies about 40 m east of the marker.

For loot, Surat’s Rest and its outskirts hold about 20 wooden chests and 7 silver chests, plus the gold chest by the matron. The town chests turn up Limestone, Metal Scraps, Glass, Wood Acid and grilled meat.
