Final Fantasy Resonance splits a character’s numbers into two groups. Five battle stats decide how much damage you deal, how much you take and how well you heal, and six attributes sit underneath them and push those battle stats up.
Quick answer: Strength raises Phys. Atk., Stamina raises Phys. Def., Magic raises Mag. Atk., Spirit raises Mag. Def. and Sanctity, Speed sets turn order, and AP caps the abilities you can equip.
Where to see your stats in Final Fantasy Resonance
Every number lives on one screen, and the game’s own definitions live in its Help menu.

In Chapter 1, Rain is a Sentinel and Lasswell is a Breaker. Rain starts at Lv.1 with Crimson Saber, Leather Armor and Earrings of Health equipped, and his full Lv.1 numbers are in the level-up table further down.
For the official wording of each stat, press Esc to open the System Menu (or go to Main Menu > System) and choose Help. Pages are added as tutorials appear, including “Attribute Descriptions” (two pages) and “Buffs and Debuffs”.

The first Help page, “Attribute Descriptions (Part 1)”, opens with “Each character has attributes that denote their battle capabilities.” It then defines five battle stats, and these are the numbers that actually touch damage and healing.
| Battle stat | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phys. Atk. (Physical attack) | “Affects damage dealt with physical attacks.” |
| Phys. Def. (Physical defense) | “Affects damage received from physical attacks.” |
| Mag. Atk. (Magic attack) | “Affects damage dealt with magic attacks.” |
| Mag. Def. (Magic defense) | “Affects damage received from magic attacks.” |
| Sanctity | “Affects healing magic and Light magic attacks.” |

Final Fantasy Resonance attributes explained
Flip to “Attribute Descriptions (Part 2)” and you get the six attributes. Four of them feed the battle stats above, and the other two handle turn order and ability loadouts.
| Attribute | What it does |
|---|---|
| Strength | “Affects physical attack.” |
| Stamina | “Affects physical defense.” |
| Magic | “Affects magic attack.” |
| Spirit | “Affects magic defense and sanctity.” |
| Speed | “Affects turn order.” |
| AP | “Affects total cost of abilities that can be equipped.” |

The stats map directly to one another, except for Spirit, which has two linked stats: Strength raises Phys. Atk., Stamina raises Phys. Def., Magic raises Mag. Atk., and Spirit raises both Mag. Def. and Sanctity. The level-up screen confirms these links. At Lv.2, Rain gains 4 Strength and Phys. Atk., 7 Stamina and Phys. Def., 2 Magic and Mag. Atk., plus 3 each in Spirit, Mag. Def. and Sanctity. Lasswell’s Lv.2 increases follow the same links: +4 Strength and Phys. Atk., +5 Stamina and Phys. Def., +3 Magic and Mag. Atk., and +3 each in Spirit, Mag. Def. and Sanctity. Speed determines a character’s position on the turn order bar.
How Final Fantasy Resonance stats grow on level up
When a battle pushes a character to a new level, a LEVEL UP screen lists every stat as old > new, along with the character’s role and its skill list. Here’s how Rain and Lasswell change from Lv.1 to Lv.2.
| Lv.1 > Lv.2 | Rain (Sentinel) | Lasswell (Breaker) |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 270 > 326 | 240 > 288 |
| MP | 35 > 39 | 40 > 45 |
| Phys. Atk. | 59 > 63 | 44 > 48 |
| Phys. Def. | 30 > 37 | 30 > 35 |
| Mag. Atk. | 25 > 27 | 32 > 35 |
| Mag. Def. | 31 > 34 | 31 > 34 |
| Sanctity | 28 > 31 | 28 > 31 |
| Strength | 38 > 42 | 28 > 32 |
| Stamina | 25 > 32 | 25 > 30 |
| Magic | 16 > 18 | 20 > 23 |
| Spirit | 28 > 31 | 28 > 31 |
| Speed | 7 > 10 | 11 > 16 |
| AP | 100 > 100 | 100 > 100 |
Rain has the higher Phys. Atk. and HP.

Lasswell leads in Mag. Atk., MP and Speed. His Speed rises from 11 to 16, compared with Rain’s increase from 7 to 10, leaving Lasswell quicker than Rain. Neither character gains AP at Lv.2.

Dialogue choices that raise stats
Levels aren’t the only source of points. Some story dialogue choices bump a stat directly. In the Earth Shrine, Rain is asked how to approach the mission (“For this mission…”). Pick “I’ll take point. Follow my lead.” and the game confirms it with “Rain’s Strength increased by 3!”

Final Fantasy Resonance buffs and debuffs explained
The “Buffs and Debuffs” Help page puts it plainly: “Certain magic can apply buffs or debuffs on characters. Be sure to monitor them, as they can greatly sway the outcome of a battle.” In battle they appear on the character, with blue icons for buffs and red icons for debuffs.
“Unlike status ailments, debuffs cannot be removed by Esuna or items.”

Buffs
| Buff | Effect |
|---|---|
| Regen | “Restores health each turn.” |
| Reflect | “Reflects magic back (excluding magic unique to certain characters).” |
| Reraise | “Revives a KO’d character once during battle.” |
| Haste | “Increases speed.” |
| Brave | “Increases physical attack.” |
| Faith | “Increases magic attack.” |
| Protect | “Increases physical defense.” |
| Shell | “Increases magic defense.” |

Debuffs
| Debuff | Effect |
|---|---|
| Slow | “Decreases speed.” |
| Debrave | “Decreases physical attack.” |
| Defaith | “Decreases magic attack.” |
| Deprotect | “Decreases physical defense.” |
| Deshell | “Decreases magic defense.” |
| Stagger defense down | “Increases stagger power taken.” |

Each debuff mirrors a buff: Slow counters Haste, Debrave counters Brave, Defaith counters Faith, Deprotect counters Protect and Deshell counters Shell. Since Esuna and items can’t clear them, keep an eye on those red icons. On the buff side, Rain learns Protect at Lv.9 and Protectga at Lv.22, while Lasswell picks up Haste at Lv.12 and Hastega at Lv.28.
