Party exploring a tower in Final Fantasy Resonance

Square Enix says it takes about 30 to 40 hours to finish the main story of Final Fantasy Resonance, depending on how you play. Side activities, optional bosses and the hunt for every Vision add time on top of that.

Quick answer: Plan for about 30 to 40 hours to beat the main story. Side content adds more, and Square Enix has not published a 100 percent completion time.

How long the Final Fantasy Resonance main story takes

Final Fantasy Resonance is a single-player, turn-based HD-2D RPG from Square Enix and LANCARSE. It launched on 22 October 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. Square Enix’s estimate for the critical path is about 30 to 40 hours. Where you land in that range comes down to your playstyle.

Difficulty is adjustable, and combat has no timed inputs, so you can play entirely at your own pace. You also don’t need to have played Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Resonance follows the story of that mobile game’s first season, but Square Enix rebuilt the scenario, dialogue and presentation for a console RPG, so you won’t lose time catching up on it.

How much side content adds

Square Enix says players can extend their playtime beyond the main story with a variety of optional pursuits. Its official store page names four:

  • Gilgamesh, the wandering swordmaster
  • A Colosseum with deadly monsters and rewards to match
  • The Chamber of Arms, a place where legendary weapons hold formidable foes captive
  • A showdown with Ultima Weapon

Visions are another reason to explore beyond the main route. Each is a familiar Final Fantasy character who joins your party in battle; according to Square Enix, finding every one requires world exploration and side content. Completing the Vision roster means putting more hours into those off-route activities.

Square Enix has not released a time estimate for completing everything or reaching 100 percent. Treat any full-completion total you see as an estimate, not an official figure.

Final Fantasy Resonance demo hours count toward the full game

Chapter 1 is playable from start to finish in the free demo, which matches the full game’s version of the chapter, though some levels are restricted. Square Enix characterizes this section as covering the game’s opening hours. Once you purchase the full release, your demo save transfers over, meaning your Chapter 1 playtime goes toward the 30 to 40 hours instead of requiring a replay.
