Quick answer: Master Bi Hai of Kuye Temple fights in an arena just past the pink fog beside the Smuggler’s Tunnel Entrance bell in the Village of Lu.

He’s a Chapter 1 boss in Phantom Blade Zero, with 37,520 HP on PATHBREAKER and the name bar “MASTER BI HAI OF KUYE TEMPLE”. The bell beside his arena is a wooden cross with red candles inside a cave mouth. He spends most of the fight shielded while summoned monks do his work for him, so the weapon you bring matters more than usual.

How to get into the arena from the Smuggler’s Tunnel Entrance bell

Exit through the cave opening and head toward the pink haze. A post-mounted brazier stands where the haze starts, marking the entrance.

Passing through the haze brings you into the arena. This muddy, open yard is bordered by rock and wooden palisades, with a closed tunnel gate at the opposite end.

The pink haze keeps the arena sealed until Master Bi Hai is dead. A fall sends you back to the Smuggler’s Tunnel Entrance bell, just a few steps away from the haze, making another attempt a quick walk.

What to expect when the Master Bi Hai fight starts

Master Bi Hai stays seated with his legs crossed, meditating beneath the protection of an enormous golden bell. Its presence keeps his health bar completely unchanged.

The fighting falls to the monks he summons. The first wave is three bare-chested bronze monks who punch, kick, and leap in at you. Each one has its own shield bar. On PATHBREAKER their hits cost roughly 60 to 300 HP apiece, and while the bell is up they’re the only source of damage you take.

Each bell phase brings in its own summons:

  • Bronze monks, who punch, kick, and leap in
  • Iron monks, who carry ring blades
  • Gold monks, who arrive after the iron monks

During the fight, the game shows the hint “Press 1 to switch weapons and fully restore Sha-Chi!”

Breaking Master Bi Hai’s golden bell

The golden bell serves as a shield: heavy attacks that break shields reduce it, while quick, light blades do little damage.

A charged Dread Axe cleave takes roughly a fifth of the bell per hit. Each cleave spends one banked Remnant Spark. When the bank runs dry, the screen shows “Out of Remnant Spark”; it refills slowly as you land hits.

The Tianxuan Bronze Sword dropped by Master Bi Yuan is described on its card as having “high Shield-Breaking power when attacking”. Each combo steadily damages the bell. On WAYFARER, using the sword with three Dread Axe cleaves reduces the bell to roughly one-fifth in under two minutes. With twin blades instead, those same three cleaves leave the bell at about 40 percent.

Monks also weaken the bell: each one killed removes a substantial portion of it and reduces Master Bi Hai’s health.
