Quick answer: Heartpiercer guards the bamboo courtyard behind the Loong-locked door at the White Serpent House on Meigu Lake. His heaviest hits are red-flash attacks: a 350 HP spinning rush on Pathbreaker and a roughly 400 HP volley on Wayfarer.
In Phantom Blade Zero, Heartpiercer appears as a masked Shadow Warden in white robes, his eyes glowing red. He wields two bladed axes, sends small spinning blades across the arena, and bounds about with leaps and somersaults. The real threat is the pause between moves: a close-range slash can become a blade stream before you have time to respond. His fight sits with the others on the full boss list.

Sail to White Serpent House Dock. The Meigu Lake interactive map lays out the entire area. After docking, cross the bamboo yard, ascend the stone stair, and reach the White Serpent House bell.
You will face enemies during the climb: two White Shadow Wardens are posted in the bamboo yard, with one more by the bell.
A short walk from the bell, a carved lattice double door requires the Loong Emblem. Unlock it to reach the courtyard, where Heartpiercer crouches in the middle. Approach him to trigger combat, and his name bar appears.
He stands between the White Serpent House bell and the White Serpent Eye, which lies past him.
Heartpiercer’s moveset and attacks
The game does not name his attacks, so the descriptions below go by how each one looks. The flash color decides your answer. A blue flash means you can parry the attack. A red flash means it cannot be parried, so you need to dodge. His eyes glow red the whole time, so watch for the flash itself, not his face.
Lunging axe slash
Whether he starts from a crouch or catches you nearby, he surges forward and slashes quickly with both axes, often beginning a combo. Parry the strike or evade to one side; staying planted in his path is dangerous.

Airborne blade stream
Following a melee strike, he vaults backward and upward, sending a continuous spray of small spinning blades at you. Individual blades deal little damage, yet the entire sequence costs Wayfarer 245 to 315 HP. On either difficulty, the slash followed by this stream is his biggest health drain. Hold guard or deflect repeatedly until every blade is past: the attack lands in many strikes, and lowering your guard after the first leaves you exposed to the remainder.

Red-flash blade volley
At a distance of roughly 9 to 10 m, a red flash signals that he is about to launch a blade volley. Since the projectiles travel for a short time, evading as soon as he flashes will miss the timing; pause briefly and dodge when they reach you. On Wayfarer, all five hits together deal around 400 HP.

Thrown blade into a dash
When you are roughly 8 to 11 m away, he flings one blade, then rushes in behind it and strikes twice. A successful deflection makes the thrown blade spark. The follow-up cuts come quickly, so prepare to parry without delay.

Red-flash spinning rush
At close quarters, a red flash precedes his forward spin, with both axes turning as he charges. On Pathbreaker, a single contact removes 350 HP, one quarter of the 1,402 HP health bar, and a second hit removes 175. Parrying is not an option; evade the charge.

Somersault over your head
He vaults over Soul at great height, descending with his blades rotating before continuing into another attack. Stay in motion and watch the spot where he touches down.

Blue-flash kick chain
Once he hits the ground, a blue flash marks a rapid sequence of kicks and spinning axe cuts. Parry is effective against these moves; match your parry timing to every strike.

Close flank swipes
He moves around to your flank, then attacks with rapid raking blows from both axes. Raise your guard whenever he shifts to your side.

Single long-range blades
From 8 m or farther out, he sidesteps and tosses blades one at a time; each causes only minor damage.
Heartpiercer damage on Pathbreaker and Wayfarer
Pathbreaker is the default difficulty, and Wayfarer is the easier mode. The figures below are against Soul at 1,402 max HP with 3 healing gourds.
| Difficulty | Attack | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Pathbreaker | Lunging axe slash | 200 HP |
| Pathbreaker | Red-flash spinning rush | 350 HP in one hit, another 175 HP |
| Pathbreaker | Airborne blade stream | 50 HP per blade |
| Pathbreaker | Blue-flash kick chain | 50 to 125 HP a hit |
| Pathbreaker | Close flank swipes | 50 to 75 HP a hit |
| Wayfarer | Lunging axe slash | 140 HP |
| Wayfarer | Airborne blade stream | 35 HP per blade, 245 to 315 HP full stream |
| Wayfarer | Red-flash blade volley | About 400 HP in five hits |
| Wayfarer | Thrown blade into a dash | 88 HP per cut, 176 HP for both |
| Wayfarer | Blue-flash kick chain | 70 to 123 HP a hit |
| Wayfarer | Close flank swipes | 35 HP a hit |
| Wayfarer | Single long-range blade | 18 HP |
When incoming damage proves excessive, choose Wayfarer to reduce the damage enemies deal. The difficulty modes breakdown covers both settings.
Tips for the Heartpiercer fight
- Rest at the White Serpent House bell before opening the door. Dying sends you back there.
- Whenever he lands a close-range strike, be ready for him to spring away and launch the blade stream. Keep your guard raised rather than pursuing.
- During the volley marked by a red flash, delay your dodge until the blades have nearly reached you.
- Heal once he has moved a long way off and completed a throw.
- The opening slash and the blade stream that follows it take the largest share of your health on both difficulties, so treat every close hit as the start of a string.
Heartpiercer’s Sundering Dual Axes
His axes are the Sundering Dual Axes, listed among the game’s weapons. The lore line reads “A pair of deadly axes once wielded by Heartpiercer, Elite Shadow Warden.” The description reads:
“The shorter the blade, the greater the peril. Standard combos build Baleful Aura, unleashing cold, ever-changing reaping attacks.”
