Quick answer: Pick up Forbidden Camphor Timber about 12 m from the bell on the Puppet Cell floor at the Mountain of Imprisonment, or buy one from Quick Hand Zhang at his Mirage Estate hideout for 2,880 Remnant Dust.
What it does
The item card reads:
“A length of branch from a forbidden ancient tree. Deep within, its limbs coil through the gloom like poisoned thorns and grasping tentacles, linked to a malign power in the Discordance.”
“Required to upgrade Ranged-type Phantom Edges from Lv. 20 to max level.”
It’s the last step in the Ranged upgrade chain. Ancient Timber takes a Ranged Phantom Edge to Lv. 10, Camphor Timber covers Lv. 10 to 20, and Forbidden Camphor Timber takes it from Lv. 20 to max level.
Where to find it
To reach the Puppet Cell beneath the hall at The Lady’s Shrine, use the Flying Guillotine to unlock the route below.
On that floor, you can collect two additional items: Remnant Dust (22,376) and a Forged Otherworldly Copper.
