Day of the Dead is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. We have not had it as a round yet, so we have not seen its hint card, and the reading here is ours: a black base with the bright colours the holiday is known for, marigold orange and gold with magenta, placed on the small parts, plus a gold crown. Below are two complete looks we built in Freeplay Mode, a black and gold crop top and skirt and a black ruffled coat in marigold orange and magenta, with our own picture for each step. Every piece, face, hairstyle and material used is free. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.
Quick answer: Go black with bright accents: a black crop top and chained skirt with gold and magenta, or a black ruffled coat with orange ruffles and a magenta top, long curls and a gold crown, posed in Magica or Blossom.
Day of the Dead outfit ideas in Dress To Impress
Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the exact palette spot we used on the Default palette. Both looks share the same face and hair, so those steps are written once, in Look 1. Both looks are barefoot: we wore no shoes.
Look 1: Black and gold with magenta chains
Our idea: black clothes with gold and magenta on the small parts only, so the bright colours outline the outfit, and a gold crown on long black curls. The set comes from the Halloween display circle in the Dressing Room; the face and hair come from Lana’s Salon.

The mannequin just behind it holds a different crop piece that opens as “1/3: Jacket”. If you click that one by mistake, take it off with the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. The Wearing panel should now show three pictures: the hair, the crop top and the skirt.

On the runway, column 9, row 5 with Silk reads as a warm golden yellow rather than a deep orange. That is the gold of this look; the true orange is one row down, and Look 2 uses it.

The finished look is a black crop top with a gold bow and magenta trim, a black pleated skirt with a gold waistband and magenta chains, long black curls and a gold crown with a magenta gem.

Magica raises one knee and holds both hands out at the sides, which shows the chains swinging off the skirt.

From the back, the long black curls fall to the waist over the black top, with the gold waistband and the black pleated skirt below.

Look 2: Black ruffled coat with orange and magenta
Our idea: a coat full of ruffles in black, with marigold orange on every ruffle and band, magenta on the top and the bows, and the curls turned hot pink. The face, hair and crown stay from Look 1; the coat and bloomers come from the short-dress shelf on the right side of the Dressing Room hall.
The black top and black shorts that show now are the base body, not a piece. They cannot be taken off, only covered, and the coat set and bloomers cover them.

Column 9, row 6 reads as a bright marigold orange on the wide ruffled cuffs.

The finished look is a black coat with wide orange ruffled cuffs and magenta bows over a magenta top, black bloomers with an orange garter belt, pink-and-black curls and the gold crown.

Blossom puts a hand on the hip with the legs crossed, a softer finish than Magica.

From the back, the hot pink curls fall over the long black coat, with the orange cuffs showing at the sides.

Add to Google Preferences →Why these looks read as Day of the Dead
Day of the Dead, Día de los Muertos, is a Mexican holiday for remembering loved ones who have died, and it is known for marigold flowers and bright, warm colours. In a dress-up round, the respectful way in is to borrow those colours rather than dress up as a costume of the culture. Both looks keep the main pieces black, then put the bright colours, marigold orange or gold and magenta, only on the small parts: bows, ruffles, bands, chains and the crown’s gem. That way the colours outline the outfit and stay readable from across the runway, and a lively pose finishes it. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.
How to recolour a piece and set its material
- Click the piece on its shelf or stand, then “Put On” when the label shows. Once you wear it, click its picture in the Wearing panel to open its colour panel again.
- Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/6: Preview”, “2/6: Sleeve Bows” and so on). Pieces with many parts, like the coat set with six and the bloomers with seven, let you place each accent exactly.
- Choose its colour on the Palette tab (the Default palette; columns are hues, rows run light to dark, row 8 runs from white to black).
- Open the “+” tab and click the material, such as Silk, Metallic or Glitter.
- Repeat for every part. The colours stay on the piece after you close the panel.
To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. Material tiles with a gold star are star-locked, so leave them alone if you have no stars. The material list carries the line “Some materials only work with higher qualities.”

Poses for Day of the Dead
We used Magica for the black and gold look and Blossom for the ruffled coat, both free under Solo in the Poses menu. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to try colours and materials calmly, sit at the vanity and the hair chairs without rushing, walk the look down the Freeplay Runway and check how it reads. Once a look works, you know which shelf, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Day of the Dead comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass and Summer Camp outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
We have not had Day of the Dead as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it, and other themes we saw came with a short hint card. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players with the stars each earned, followed by an “Intermission” countdown of about a minute.
The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Day of the Dead to roll.
What we have not checked
No round we joined rolled Day of the Dead, so these looks have not walked a real Day of the Dead round: there is no score, star count or vote for them, and we have not seen the theme’s hint card. We used no sugar-skull face (none was seen on the vanity), no face paint, no flowers, no held candles and no shoes. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.
FAQ
Is there a sugar skull face in Dress To Impress?
We did not see one. We looked through three screens of full-face cards on the vanity’s Feminine tab and found no sugar-skull face, so both looks here use the soft glam face card instead.
Which colours work for Day of the Dead?
We used black (column 9, row 8) for the main pieces, gold (column 9, row 5), marigold orange (column 9, row 6) and magenta (column 2, row 5) for the small parts, all Silk, with a Metallic crown.
Can I do Day of the Dead without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, face, hairstyle, colour and material used here worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them. Silk, Metallic and Glitter are free materials; tiles with a gold star are star-locked.
Where is the ruffled coat?
On the short-dress shelf in the Dressing Room, top row, the middle stand. It is sage green until you recolour it, and the matching bloomers are on the same stand, under the coat.
Which pose fits Day of the Dead?
Magica, with one knee raised and the hands out at the sides, for the black and gold look, and Blossom, with a hand on the hip and the legs crossed, for the ruffled coat. Both are free under Solo.
