Apple kept the same compatibility list as iOS 26, so iPhone 11 owners get another year of major software support.

iOS 27 runs on the iPhone 11 and every newer model, the same lineup that supported iOS 26. Apple confirmed the compatibility list during its WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8, which means no devices were cut this year. The iPhone 11 family, first sold in 2019, stays eligible for one more annual upgrade.

Quick answer: If your iPhone runs iOS 26, it will run iOS 27. To confirm your model, open Settings, tap General, then tap About and check the Model Name.

When iOS 27 arrives

The developer beta is available immediately after the keynote. A public beta follows later this summer, and the general release is planned for the fall, in line with Apple’s usual September rollout alongside new iPhones.

Why not every feature reaches older iPhones

Running iOS 27 does not mean a device gets every new capability. Apple continues to tie advanced Apple Intelligence features to newer chips and more memory, so some functions stay limited to recent models even though the operating system installs on a wider range of phones.

That gap matters most for the oldest supported hardware. An iPhone 11 or second-generation iPhone SE can update to iOS 27 and use its core changes, including design tweaks like the Liquid Glass opacity slider, but the heaviest AI-driven features are reserved for newer iPhones with more powerful processors.

If your iPhone is on the list, you can plan to update when the public release ships in the fall. Owners of older models that fall outside the list will keep getting iOS 26 security updates for at least a few more years, so they stay protected even without the move to iOS 27.
