The Valley of Screams is the only place in VV Ultimatum where you can take off an equipped Spirit Charm. Once a Charm is bound to your character, no inventory menu will let you swap it out. You reach the Valley through a purple portal that spawns at random across the world, step inside, and remove the Charms you no longer want.

This matters most when you hit the notch cap. Every Charm costs notches equal to its Tier, and your safe limit is three total notches. Go above three and your maximum HP starts dropping for each extra notch. If a high-Tier Charm is draining too much health, removing it in the Valley of Screams is the fix.

How to confirm the Charm was removed
You know the removal worked when the Charm no longer occupies a notch and any HP penalty tied to it disappears. Your maximum HP returns to its normal value as soon as your total notch count drops back to three or below. If your health bar is still shortened, you are likely still over the three-notch threshold and need to remove another Charm.
Valley of Screams versus Charm merging
Removing a Charm and merging two Charms are separate systems in separate locations. The Valley of Screams only unbinds Charms. Merging happens at a hidden laboratory in Hueco Mundo and requires an Energy Cell plus two Charms.
