Gothic 1 Remake: How to Get Baal Tyon’s Favor

Baal Tyon is one of the five Gurus of the Swamp Camp in Gothic 1 Remake, and his approval is part of joining the Brotherhood. He teaches his students at the Temple Square and refuses to speak to you on his own. The only way to win him over is to hand him a specially prepared swampweed roll that you collect from a quest in the New Camp.

Quick answer: Complete the Canvassing Customers quest for Baal Kagan in the New Camp, pick the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll as your reward, then give it to Baal Tyon at the Temple Square to gain his favor.

Why Baal Tyon’s favor matters

To impress Cor Kalom and be initiated into the Brotherhood, you need the support of at least four of the camp’s five Gurus. Baal Tyon counts toward that total. Unlike most characters in the game, you should not approach the Gurus and speak first, since doing so can affect your admission. Baal Tyon in particular stays invincible and unreachable until you bring him the right item.

Get the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll from the New Camp

The item that unlocks Baal Tyon’s approval is not found in the Swamp Camp. You earn it through the Canvassing Customers side quest in the New Camp, given by Baal Kagan.

Travel to the New Camp and enter the residential cavern. Follow the main path until you find Baal Kagan sitting by the campfire.

Speak to Baal Kagan to start Canvassing Customers. He asks you to distribute 7 Green Novice rolls among the Bandits and Mercenaries around the camp. Each New Camper pays 10 Ore Nuggets per roll, and you keep the profit.

After selling all 7 rolls, return to Baal Kagan to claim your reward. He offers three options, so choose the dialogue “Help me join the Brotherhood” to receive the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll instead of nuggets or magic scrolls.

Note: The reward menu also lists 100 Ore Nuggets and a set of three magic scrolls. Only the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll works for Baal Tyon, so do not take the nuggets or scrolls if his favor is your goal.

Give the roll to Baal Tyon at the Temple Square

Return to the Swamp Camp and head to the Temple Square. Baal Tyon stands at the center, giving a sermon to his students.

Interact with him and hand over the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll using the line “Master, please accept this humble present from a humble seeker.”

Baal Tyon smokes the roll, falls asleep, and has a vision from the Sleeper in which he sees the Hero. When he wakes, he gives his support to your admission and sends you on toward Cor Kalom.

How to confirm it worked

You know Baal Tyon’s favor is secured when he describes his vision of the Sleeper and tells you he sees a new member of the Brotherhood who looks like you. His support is then logged toward the four-Guru requirement, and he directs you to Cor Kalom. If he still will not speak to you, you are missing the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll, which means the Canvassing Customers quest is not finished or you selected a different reward from Baal Kagan.
