Most books in Clean the Library come in stacks of 10 volumes, but a smaller set only has three. These 3-volume books are easy to misplace because their shelves are short, and a single wrong volume forces you to re-sort an entire row. Knowing which titles are 3-volume and exactly where they belong saves a lot of backtracking on the clock.
Quick answer: There are 48 3-volume books spread evenly across six sections, eight books each, in Avatar & Catalog (1C), Myths (1D), Obby/Parkour (1G), Horror (1H), Meditation (2C), and Military (2D). Place all three volumes of a title on the matching short shelf to complete it.

How the 48 3-volume books split across floors
Of the 48 3-volume books, 32 belong to Floor 1 and the remaining 16 sit on Floor 2. Each of the six sections holds exactly eight 3-volume titles. The table below maps every section code to its category and floor so you can route your runs efficiently.
| Section | Category | Floor | 3-volume books |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1C | Avatar & Catalog | 1 | 8 |
| 1D | Myths | 1 | 8 |
| 1G | Obby/Parkour | 1 | 8 |
| 1H | Horror | 1 | 8 |
| 2C | Meditation | 2 | 8 |
| 2D | Military | 2 | 8 |

Meditation (2C) and Military (2D) 3-volume books
The two Floor 2 sections each carry eight 3-volume books as well, completing the 48 total. The Meditation shelves sit at 2C and the Military shelves at 2D. The exact titles for these two categories are still being confirmed in-game, so treat any unfamiliar Meditation or Military spine as a likely 3-volume candidate and shelve it on the matching short row.
How to confirm a 3-volume book is shelved correctly
A 3-volume shelf is short and holds only three slots. When you place all three matching volumes in order, the shelf registers as complete, which is how you know the sort worked. Completing a shelf awards 2 Stat Points that you can spend in the Magic Upgrades menu.
If a shelf will not complete, the usual cause is a mismatched volume count. Dropping a 10-volume title onto a 3-slot shelf, or mixing volumes from different series, leaves the row unfinished. Re-check the spine label against the section code and make sure all three volumes belong to the same title before moving on.
To handle the books themselves, press E or left-click to pick up and place, Q to drop, and the scroll wheel to switch the top book. On controller, that maps to RT for pickup and place, B or O to drop, and LT to cycle. Right-click zooms in so you can read a spine clearly before committing it to a shelf. Memorizing the 3-volume lists above means fewer wrong placements and a cleaner run at the leaderboard.
