How to Get the Egg in Deltarune Chapter 5 (Cliffs Wheat Field)

The Egg is a recurring secret Key Item in Deltarune, and Chapter 5 hides its version in a tucked-away tree room past the Cliffs shop. It is fully optional, has no combat or stat effect, and is easy to walk past unless you stop to harvest the wheat field. The man behind the tree hands it over once you reach his room.

Quick answer: In the Cliffs, go right of the shop into the wheat field, run through the Torii Gates while destroying every wheat stalk, then keep cutting the single stalk that respawns until a balloon appears. Follow it into the dog room, copy the dog’s flower order to get the Watering Can, clear the path to the left, and talk to the man behind the tree to receive the Egg.

Requirements before you start

You need to reach the Cliffs area in the Dark World, which means progressing far enough to obtain the Petal Feather and use it on the Mysterious Structures. After that, the shop in the Cliffs becomes your landmark for finding the Egg.

Harvest the wheat to spawn the balloon

From the Cliffs shop, head right into the wheat field. You can recruit the enemies here, then continue toward the Torii Gate.

Pass through the Torii Gate during the running section. A flying enemy fires projectiles at you, so dodge them until you reach the far side safely.

Travel back and forth through the Torii Gates and destroy every stalk of wheat in the area. Do not push forward along the main path once the field is cleared.

After all the wheat is gone, a single new stalk appears each time you cross. Keep dashing through that one stalk on each pass. Repeat this a few times until a blue balloon pops up in the sky and drifts to the left.

Solve the dog’s flower puzzle

Follow the balloon to enter a new room. Inside, a dog floats around tied to a balloon of its own.

Watch which flowers the dog points to and interact with them in the exact order it shows. Matching the sequence is the only way to complete the puzzle.

Once every flower is active, a dog-shaped Watering Can appears in the middle of the room. Pick it up to start carving a path.

The dog begins chasing you as soon as you grab the can. Rush to the left and use the Watering Can to open a path out of the room.

Reach the tree room and collect the Egg

The path created by the Watering Can leads to a room with a single tree growing in it. Walk to the back of the tree to find the man standing behind it. He may be hard to see, so move toward the rear of the room to trigger the interaction.

Speak with him to receive the Egg. Exhaust all of his dialogue, then leave the room with the Chapter 5 collectible in hand.

How to confirm you got it

Check your Key Items inventory. The Egg’s description reads “Not too important, not too unimportant,” and using it produces the line “(You used the Egg.)” with no effect. It stays in Kris’s inventory while you remain in the Dark World and disappears once the chapter ends.

Note: On the PlayStation version, finishing a chapter on a save file where you collected that chapter’s Egg blocks the “COMPLETE WITHOUT ISSUE” trophy for that chapter. If you are chasing trophies, grab the Egg on a separate save or skip it on your trophy run.
