Haze Seas Shusui: How to Get It From Ryummy and Its Moveset

The drop source, level requirement, moveset, and endgame crafting role for the Shusui sword.

Shusui is a First Sea sword in Haze Seas, and it drops from Ryummy, the boss stationed at Thriller Boat Island. It is a rare pull with a low chance per kill, and it matters beyond its own moveset because it feeds directly into one of the strongest crafted swords in the game.

Quick answer: Beat Ryummy at Thriller Boat Island (Level 2150) and hope for the 5% Shusui drop. Keep farming the boss until it lands in your inventory.

Where Shusui drops in Haze Seas

Shusui comes only from Ryummy, the final major boss of the First Sea. Ryummy sits on Thriller Boat Island and is gated behind Level 2150, making it the last real stop before you push into the Second Sea. There is no shop purchase, trade merchant, or crafting recipe for the base sword. The single way in is to defeat the boss and roll the drop.

Ryummy is a tough fight for the point in progression where you unlock it. Bring a solid build before you commit to repeated runs, and expect several kills before Shusui appears given the 5% rate. The same boss also drops the Blue Scarf, so farming here doubles as an accessory grind.

Shusui moveset and Sword Mastery requirements

Shusui has two skills, and both are locked behind Sword Mastery levels rather than being available the moment you equip it. You unlock Thrust Barrage first, then Star Impact once your mastery climbs higher.

SkillSword Level RequirementShowcase
Thrust Barrage (Z)5050
Star Impact (X)150150

Because the second move sits at Mastery 150, you will want to grind the sword well past its unlock level to get its full kit. That grind is not wasted effort, since a high mastery total on Shusui is exactly what the endgame crafting path needs.

Why Shusui matters for Three Sword Style

Shusui is one of three swords required to craft Three Sword Style V1 (3SS V1). To make it, you need Shusui, Zenith, and Enma, each raised to 300 Mastery, then you interact with the Rock Shrine at the Land of Gods. That means holding onto Shusui and grinding it is worth far more than its own moveset suggests.

From there, 3SS V1 becomes the base for 3SS V2, which is crafted in the Third Sea at Doran the Forge using 3SS V1, 300 Mastery, and 5 Ancient Blade Relics. 3SS V2 is one of the strongest swords in the game, so the Shusui you pull off Ryummy is effectively a long-term investment toward endgame gear.

How to confirm you got Shusui

Reach Level 2150 and travel to Thriller Boat Island, the last First Sea location before the Second Sea transition.
Defeat Ryummy. On kill, Shusui drops 5% of the time, so a single clear often will not award it.
Check your inventory after the fight. When the drop hits, Shusui appears as an equippable sword. If it is not there, the roll failed and you need to fight Ryummy again.

Note: Shusui is tradeable, so if the drop refuses to appear, you can acquire one through the in-game trading system instead of farming it directly. The name and design nod to the sword Zoro wields in the One Piece series, which the game draws its inspiration from.
