How to Make Cake in Palworld (Ingredients and Breeding Use)

Reach Level 17, build a Cooking Pot, and gather five ingredients to bake the Cake your Pals need to breed.

Reach Level 17, build a Cooking Pot, and gather five ingredients to bake the Cake your Pals need to breed.

Cake is the one item that gates Pal breeding in Palworld. You cannot hatch a bred egg without it, and each egg costs one whole Cake, so anyone planning to breed regularly needs a steady supply. Making it comes down to two things: unlocking the Cooking Pot and stocking five different ingredients.

Quick answer: Reach Level 17 and build a Cooking Pot, then cook 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Egg, and 2 Honey with a Kindling Pal assigned to produce one Cake.

Cake ingredients and quantities

A single Cake needs five ingredients in fixed amounts. Multiply everything by the number of Cakes you want, since each breeding cycle burns one.

Unlock the Cooking Pot at Level 17

The Cake recipe becomes available once you build a Cooking Pot, which unlocks at Level 17 and costs 2 Technology Points. You cannot cook Cake in any earlier station, so this is the hard requirement.

Place the Cooking Pot in your base and keep a Pal with the Kindling work suitability assigned nearby. Without a fire Pal to run it, the Cake will not cook.

Where to farm each ingredient

Flour

Flour is the most involved ingredient. At Level 15, you can unlock both the Wheat Plantation and the Mill, each costing 2 Technology Points. You first need Wheat Seeds to build the plantation and grow Wheat.

StructureMaterials
Wheat Plantation3 Wheat Seeds, 35 Wood, 35 Stone
Mill50 Wood, 40 Stone

Assign Pals with Planting, Farming, and Watering to grow and harvest the Wheat, then feed it into the Mill. Three Wheat produces one bag of Flour, so 15 Wheat covers the five Flour a Cake requires. You still have to queue the Flour manually in the Mill for a Watering Pal to process it.

Red Berries

Red Berries grow all over the world, making them the easiest ingredient to stockpile. For a reliable supply, build a Berry Plantation at Level 5 (2 Technology Points, 3 Berry Seeds, 20 Wood, 20 Stone). You can also place a Caprity in a Ranch to drop them.

Milk, Eggs, and Honey

These three come from a Ranch, which unlocks at Level 5 for 2 Technology Points and needs 50 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber. Assign the right Pal and it produces its resource on a timer.

ResourceRanch PalAlternative
MilkMozzarinaDefeat/capture Mozzarina, or buy for 50 Gold each
EggChikipiDefeat/capture Chikipi, or buy for 50 Gold each
HoneyBeegardeDefeat/capture Cinnamoth, Elizabee, Warsect, or Warsect Terra

Chikipi are easy to find near the Plateau of Beginnings fast travel point if you need one early. Milk and finished Cake both spoil, so store surplus ingredients in a Cooler Box to keep them fresh while you gather the rest.

Bake the Cake and speed it up

With all five ingredients in stock, queue the Cake at the Cooking Pot and let your Kindling Pal work. Baking takes a noticeable amount of time, especially in batches.

To cut that time, assign Jormuntide Ignis, which has Kindling Level 4. A higher Kindling level raises production speed at the pot. If you cannot catch it yet, any other fire Pal with a Kindling suitability will still get the job done, just slower.

Put the Cake in the Breeding Farm

Cake exists mainly to fuel breeding. The Breeding Farm unlocks at Level 19 and costs 2 Technology Points, 100 Wood, 20 Stone, 50 Fiber, and 10 Wooden Board.

Open the box attached to the Breeding Farm, on its right-hand side.
Move the Cake from your inventory into that box. Storing it here also stops it from spoiling, unlike keeping it loose in a regular chest.
Place two compatible Pals in the farm. With a Cake stored, they will lay an egg. You know it worked when the pair produces an egg you can incubate; each egg consumes one Cake, so refill the box before the next breeding.

If breeding does not start, the usual cause is an empty Cake box. Bake and store another Cake, and the farm resumes.

Cake details and other uses

Cake counts as a food consumable. Pals can eat it to remove hunger, but that is a poor use given how many ingredients each one takes. Reserve it for breeding and feed your Pals cheaper dishes that boost combat or work speed instead.

Beyond crafting, you can obtain Cake as a rare drop from Lovander, at roughly a 1% chance when it is defeated or captured. That rate is far too low to rely on, so a dedicated ingredient farm and Cooking Pot remain the practical way to keep your Breeding Farm stocked.
