Anime Expeditions: How to Get the 8th Sword (Kenpachi Zaraki)

Everything needed to farm the Kenpachi-inspired unit from Spirit City Raid and evolve it into 8th Sword (Berserk).

The 8th Sword is a Secret-tier unit in Anime Expeditions, modeled after Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach. It pairs Neutral and Physical typings, sits behind a very low drop rate, and only reaches its full strength after you evolve it into 8th Sword (Berserk). Getting one comes down to clearing a single high-difficulty raid and then gathering the right crafting materials.

Quick answer: Clear Spirit City Raid – Act 3 on Hard for a 1% drop, or run it 35 times to trigger the one-time pity that guarantees the unit.

Where the 8th Sword drops in Anime Expeditions

The 8th Sword only comes from Spirit City Raid – Act 3, one of the toughest fights in the game. Completing the act gives a chance at the unit, and the odds depend entirely on the difficulty you clear.

Difficulty8th Sword dropExtra drop
Normal0.1%
Hard1%Shinigami Sword (3.5%)

Hard difficulty gives ten times the drop chance of Normal, so it is the better target once your team can beat it reliably. Hard also drops the Shinigami Sword equipment at a 3.5% rate, which is the best fit for this unit. That lets you farm the character and its ideal equipment in the same runs.

Note: There is a one-time pity of 35 completions. If the 1% roll never lands, the unit is granted automatically once you finish Act 3 thirty-five times.

Materials to evolve into 8th Sword (Berserk)

Once you own the base unit, you can upgrade it into 8th Sword (Berserk). The evolution unlocks two extra passives on top of the two the base unit already has, so it is the version you want for late-game content.

Colored Sprites are not found directly. You craft them from Grey Sprites, which drop from Story mode, Challenge mode, other game modes, and events. Gold is the standard currency, earned through story stages, raids, quests, daily challenges, and events, or by selling Shiny units.

8th Sword (Berserk) passives

The evolved unit is built around constant area damage and immunity to crowd control. Its four passives work together to punish stuns and finish off weakened enemies.

PassiveEffect
Demonic PresenceEnemies within 40% of the unit’s range take 5% of its current damage every 1 second.
Savage ReboundWhen stunned, instantly cleanses the stun and performs Thunderclap Cut at 100% current damage. All follow-up attacks apply Dismembered.
Dismemberer’s RushWhen an enemy in range drops below 10% HP, triggers Unrestrained Rampage, a follow-up attack at 100% current damage.
The Nameless DemonAfter 25 takedowns, enters Berserk State for 15 seconds with +20% Damage, -10% SPA, and Dismembered applied on every hit.

The base unit already carries Demonic Presence and Savage Rebound, so even an un-evolved 8th Sword resists stuns and chips away at nearby enemies. Dismemberer’s Rush and The Nameless Demon are the two abilities you gain from the Berserk evolution.

Placement, spawn cost, and upgrade costs

The 8th Sword has a placement limit of 2 and costs ¥2,000 to spawn. Its damage scales sharply from UPG 6 onward, where the DPS jump makes it worth committing the yen for the later tiers.

UpgradeCost (¥)DPS
UPG 02,00033.83
UPG 12,75059.56
UPG 24,000107.89
UPG 35,750136.67

UPG 69,250212.31
UPG 79,900253.91

The fastest route is to run Spirit City Raid – Act 3 on Hard with a team strong enough to clear it consistently. Each clear rolls for both the 1% unit and the 3.5% Shinigami Sword, and the 35-run pity guarantees you the 8th Sword even if the odds never cooperate. Bank Grey Sprites and Gold while you farm so the Berserk evolution is ready the moment the unit drops.
