The lighthouse tied to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 sits inside the Calamari Canyon point of interest. It is the tall red-and-white striped tower on the shore, and it once let players trigger a beam that revealed a hidden rare chest. That mechanic has since been switched off, so the tower is now a landmark rather than a loot trick.
Quick answer: Fly to Calamari Canyon and look west of the main buildings, right along the shoreline. The striped lighthouse is impossible to miss from the Battle Bus.

The lighthouse stands at the western edge of Calamari Canyon, just past the cluster of buildings and close to the water. Its red-and-white bands make it easy to spot while you are still gliding in, so you can steer toward it the moment you leave the bus.
If you take damage on the way down, two campfires are within reach near the point of interest, which lets you top off health before pushing further into the area.
Is the lighthouse beam still working?
No. Epic Games disabled the lighthouse beam through a hotfix on July 23, 2026. With the beacon turned off, the rare chest never appears, so the tower currently offers no special loot reward. The developer also swapped the Weekly Quest that asked players to “Use the lighthouse beam to reveal a hidden rare chest and search it” for a “Hit Opponents” challenge instead.
Note: If you walk up to the beacon and nothing happens, that is expected behavior now, not a bug on your end.
How the lighthouse beam revealed rare chests
While it was active, the beam gave a fast route to rare loot. The sequence below is how the mechanic functioned before it was turned off.
The catch was visibility. Other players could see the revealed chest as soon as it spawned, so grabbing it meant racing anyone else who spotted the same drop.
The infinite Sprites glitch and the patch
The beam was pulled because of an exploit tied to it. Instead of opening the revealed chest, players broke it. Breaking the chest caused another rare chest to rift in at the same spot, and the loop could repeat.
That effectively worked like an early version of reopenable chests. As long as a player was not forced to move by the storm or enemies, they could keep breaking and respawning the chest to farm rare loot, including rare Sprites.
Epic shut it down by disabling the beam entirely in the July 23, 2026 hotfix. With the beacon off, no chest spawns, which closes the exploit completely.
For now, treat the Calamari Canyon lighthouse as a navigation marker and a decent early landing spot rather than a guaranteed source of rare gear. If you are still chasing Sprites, Sprite Locators and Sprite Chests around the map remain the reliable options.
