The Hexed Blade is a Secret-tier piece of Unit Equipment in Anime Expeditions, built specifically for Shadow (Divine). It cannot be farmed from any Mastery stage. The only way to own it is to build it at the Crafting Station using Sprites and Gold.

Quick answer: Open the Crafting Station (Armory Forge) and craft the Hexed Blade with 5 Blue Sprites, 5 Green Sprites, 5 Red Sprites, and 10,000 Gold. There is no Mastery drop for it.

Hexed Blade crafting recipe

Every other unit-specific item in the game can drop from a Mastery region at a 5% chance with 20-clear pity. The Hexed Blade is the exception. It never appears in a Mastery pool, so crafting is mandatory. One craft yields a single Hexed Blade.

MaterialAmount
Sprite (Blue)x5
Sprite (Green)x5
Sprite (Red)x5
Goldx10,000
Collect the three colored Sprites and enough Gold from your runs. You need 5 of each Sprite color plus 10,000 Gold before the recipe will complete.

Open the Crafting Station inside the Expedition Hub and select the Hexed Blade. Confirm the item icon and that it is listed for Shadow (Divine) so you do not craft the wrong piece.
Check the ingredient list and Gold cost on the recipe screen, then press Craft. Recipe values can change with live updates, so the numbers shown on the current screen take priority over anything else.

Stats and the Winged Spirit passive

The Hexed Blade rolls two substats, Damage and Range, within the ranges below. Its real value comes from the exclusive passive, which only activates on Shadow (Divine).

PropertyValue
TypeUnit Equipment (Secret)
Required unitShadow (Divine)
Damage+1% to +10%
Range+1% to +5%
PassiveWinged Spirit

Winged Spirit turns on at Upgrade 3 during a run. At that point it summons a temporary allied spirit at the unit’s position that circles at 50% of Shadow’s range. The spirit deals 75% of Shadow’s current damage every 5 seconds at its location and applies Stun, which locks affected enemies for 2 seconds on a 5-second cooldown. This passive replaces Shadow’s original passive rather than stacking with it.

Note: You will not see the spirit until the unit hits Upgrade 3 mid-stage. Before that, the Hexed Blade only provides its Damage and Range substats.

Best build for Shadow (Divine)

Shadow works as a magical team anchor. Its Shadow Realm rewinds enemies and buffs magical units by 25% for 30 seconds, so utility gear beats raw stat stacking in most comps. The strongest setup pairs the Hexed Blade with support pieces.

  • Magic Book for direct magical damage scaling.
  • Bamboo Bottle for range and active cooldown reduction, giving Shadow more Shadow Realm casts.
  • Hexed Blade to drop the Winged Spirit interval from 8 seconds to 5 seconds and raise its damage from 50% to 75% of current damage.

In magical comps built around units like Flame Emperor or Elf Mage, this utility build gives the most value. If you want Shadow as a solo damage dealer instead, swap Bamboo Bottle for a Shinigami Sword.

Rerolling the Damage and Range rolls

Each substat lands inside its range, so your first Hexed Blade rarely rolls ideal Damage and Range values. Two items fix this. The Equipment Reroll re-rolls the substats, and the Equipment Lock holds one substat in place so only the other changes.

Both come from Daily and Weekly Challenges. You can also buy them from the Gold Shop, Raid Shop, Spirit City Raid Shop, and Event Shop. In the Gold Shop, an Equipment Reroll costs 2,500 Gold.

Lock the high roll you want to keep, whether that is the Damage or the Range line, using an Equipment Lock.
Reroll the remaining stat so you never overwrite the value you already secured. Read the confirmation screen before spending each reroll.
Stop once you hit a usable roll. Chasing a small numeric bump wastes Gold and reroll items for a change you will not feel in a run.

How to confirm the Hexed Blade is working

Open the Items menu and equip the Hexed Blade to Shadow. Its stat panel updates with the new Damage and Range bonuses right away. The Winged Spirit passive is separate. It only appears once Shadow reaches Upgrade 3 inside a stage, where you will see the spirit orbiting and stunning enemies.

If the piece refuses to attach, the cause is almost always one of the following.

  • You are trying to slot it onto a unit other than Shadow. Unit-specific gear only equips on its assigned character.
  • Your Shadow has not reached the Divine form the item requires.
  • The unit has not hit Upgrade 3 yet, which is why the spirit has not spawned.

Once Shadow (Divine) is equipped and pushed to Upgrade 3, the Winged Spirit handles its own damage and stun cycle for the rest of the run, freeing Shadow to focus on the Shadow Realm buff for your magical carries.
