Hard Mode Victor and Shadowbeak is one of the toughest Tower Boss encounters in Palworld 1.0. Shadowbeak is a Level 80 Dark-type Pal with a massive 570,000 HP pool, and its moveset leans heavily on Ice attacks that punish careless Dragon teams. Beating it in the time limit takes maxed-out Pals, endgame weapons, and a plan for the clone it spawns at low health.
Quick answer: Bring a Level 80 Dragon/Fire team (Eidrolon Ignis or Blazamut Ryu carry, Jormuntide Ignis and Orserk support), equip the full Ancient Armor set with a Drone Launcher and Plasma Rifle, keep Dragon moves with the Burn Aggregate active, dodge the AoE Ice attacks, and ignore the clone that spawns at low HP while you burst the real boss.
Hard Mode boss stats, unlock, and rewards
The fight takes place at the PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower in the Astral Mountains, the same location as the Normal Mode version. To open the Hard Mode challenge you first need to defeat the Auri and Shaolong Hard Mode boss. Shadowbeak keeps its Dark typing and remains weak to Dragon-type damage.

Add to Google Preferences →Why Dragon/Fire Pals matter here
Unlike most bosses, Shadowbeak carries more Ice coverage moves than Dark ones. That is a problem for pure Dragon Pals, since Ice is super effective against them. The fix is to use Dragon Pals that also have a Fire secondary typing, which turns those Ice hits into neutral damage instead of super-effective damage.
You still exploit Shadowbeak’s Dragon weakness on offense, but your carry survives the incoming Ice barrage. Pals like Eidrolon Ignis, Blazamut Ryu, Chillet Ignis, and Jormuntide Ignis all fit this Dragon/Fire profile.
Best active Pals for the carry slot
| Pal | Rating | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
Eidrolon Ignis | ★★★★★ | Strong exclusive Dragon move that applies burn, gains speed and damage with more Fire/Dragon Pals in the party, and Fire-typing neutralizes Ice. |
Blazamut Ryu | ★★★★☆ | Powerful burning Dragon move and Fire-typing to blunt Ice, but can’t be bred for Dragon-boosting passives. |
Eidrolon | ★★★★☆ | Same strong burning Dragon move and can run Celesdir Noct, but lacks Fire-typing so it stays weak to Ice. |
Shaolong | ★★★★☆ | Attack boost scaling with Dragon Pals and fast flight for dodging, but no Fire-typing and no breeding for passives. |
Orserk | ★★★☆☆ | One of the strongest Partner Skills in the game, though its exclusive attacks are Electric rather than Dragon. |
Minimum Pal build requirements
Your Pals need to be fully invested to survive and to hit the damage benchmark before the timer runs out. Meet these minimums before you walk in.
- Level 80
- Pal Soul upgrades: HP +20, Atk +20, Def +20
- Trust Level 7 or higher
- 4-Star Condensed
- Awakened
Recommended team compositions
Dragon/Fire balanced team
This setup runs Eidrolon Ignis and Blazamut Ryu as active Pals so their Fire-typing keeps Shadowbeak’s Ice attacks from being super effective. Both have Dragon attacks that cause burn, which lets you unlock Jormuntide Ignis’ extra damage against burning targets. Orserk provides Attack and Defense buffs, while Silvegis adds another defensive layer by boosting your shields.
| Role | Pals |
|---|---|
| Active carries | Eidrolon Ignis, Blazamut Ryu |
| Support | Jormuntide Ignis, Orserk, Silvegis |
| Passives | Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist, Reload Master, Idiosyncratic |
Slot three Dragon attacks with the Burn Aggregate onto each carry. For Eidrolon Ignis use Blazing Beam, Dragon Meteor, and Comet Barrage; for Blazamut Ryu use Magna Crush, Dragon Meteor, and Comet Barrage. If the boss isn’t burning, you lose Jormuntide Ignis’ damage multiplier entirely.
Full-damage Eidrolon team
To push maximum damage, swap the carry to Eidrolon and add Celesdir Noct for a further Attack boost. The rest stays similar, with Blazamut Ryu and Orserk buffs plus Jormuntide Ignis’ bonus damage to burned enemies. The trade-off is that Eidrolon lacks Fire-typing, so it stays weak to Ice, keep its HP topped up and lean on the Immortality passive’s life steal to avoid a sudden KO.
| Role | Pals |
|---|---|
| Active carry | Eidrolon |
| Support | Blazamut Ryu, Jormuntide Ignis, Orserk, Celesdir Noct |
| Passives | Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist, Reload Master, Idiosyncratic |
Best weapons, accessories, and armor
The Drone Launcher is the priority weapon because its rapid fire maxes out Orserk’s Partner Skill buff, as long as you stay in range of the boss. The Plasma Rifle is the strongest gun overall, and the Megaboost Gun adds a buff to your active Pal. The Mechanical Bow is useful for applying Burn with Fire Arrows to trigger Jormuntide Ignis’ damage bonus.
| Weapon | Lv. | Attack | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
Megaboost Gun | 63 | 250 | 400 |
Mechanical Bow | 67 | 20000 | 2000 |
Drone Launcher | 77 | 200 | 6500 |
Plasma Rifle | 78 | 1860 | 25000 |
For accessories, favor items that boost the element the boss is weak to. The Dogen Emblem is the usual pick because it raises both your Attack and your Pal’s Attack.
| Accessory | Effect |
|---|---|
Dogen Emblem | Greatly raises your Attack and your Pal’s Attack. |
Divine Dragon’s Baton | Raises your Pal’s Attack and significantly increases Dragon damage. |
Jetragon’s Talisman | Raises your Pal’s Defense and significantly increases Dragon damage. |
Elphidran Ring | Greatly reduces incoming Dark damage and significantly increases your Pal’s Dragon damage. |
Because this is an endgame fight, use the highest-Defense gear you have. The full Ancient Armor set is the minimum standard, and you can upgrade to a higher-tier version if available.
| Armor | HP | Def | Added effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Ancient Shield | N/A | 2200 | None |
| Ancient Helm | 1200 | 500 | Neutral Damage Reduction Lv.1 / Dragon Damage Reduction Lv.1 |
| Lightweight Ancient Armor | 2400 | 840 | Cold Resistance Lv.2 / Heat Resistance Lv.2 / Max Carrying Capacity Lv.4 |
Food and healing to carry in
Tower Bosses have a time limit, so prioritize food that raises your damage output over pure defense. Running out of time is a bigger risk than running out of HP once your gear is solid. Broncherry Fried Noodles and Mammorest Curry are the recommended buffs.
Always pack healing and revival items so a big hit or a downed Pal doesn’t end the run. Bring a few High Quality Recovery Meds, Advanced Recovery Meds, and a Revival Potion.
Shadowbeak’s Hard Mode attacks
Shadowbeak leans on high-power AoE attacks, and it has five separate Ice moves on top of its Dark skills. That heavy Ice coverage is exactly why a Fire secondary typing on your carry matters so much.
| Attack | Type | Power | CT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Divine Disaster | Dark | 400 | 20 |
| Divine Disaster II | Dark | 600 | 30 |
| Dark Laser | Dark | 450 | 20 |
| Apocalypse | Dark | 400 | 20 |
| Lethal Laser | Electric | 600 | 30 |
| Diamond Rain | Ice | 600 | 30 |
| Blizzard Spike | Ice | 450 | 20 |
| Icicle Line | Ice | 300 | 16 |
| Freeze Wall | Ice | 200 | 12 |
Fight strategy, step by step

You’ll know the run succeeded when the boss health bar empties and the encounter ends with the reward screen. On a first clear you’re guaranteed the Victor Hat, and there’s a 10% chance for the Legendary Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor Schematic along with Power Lotus (L) and a Training Crystal. If you don’t get the schematic, the fight is fully repeatable, so keep running it until it drops.
