How to Unlock The World (Dio) Spec in Legacy Piece

The full Joestar questline, crafting costs, and the Shadow Dio fight that grants the Mythical spec.

The full Joestar questline, crafting costs, and the Shadow Dio fight that grants the Mythical spec.

The World (Dio) is a Mythical rarity spec in Legacy Piece, and getting it locks you into a long chain of combat quests that start with the Dio NPC in Ruin City. You need the right clan, a large sum of cash, and enough boss kills to earn the pieces for a special arrow. Once the questline is done, you craft the Blood-Stained Stand Arrow and beat the Shadow Dio boss to claim the spec.

Quick answer: Be in the Joestar clan, pay $5,000,000 to the Dio NPC in Ruin City, finish all four Dio quests, then craft the Blood-Stained Stand Arrow (30 Broken Stand Arrow Fragments, 15 Vampire Blood, $25,000,000, Rank SS+) and defeat Shadow Dio in The Stopped World to unlock The World.

Requirements before you start the Dio questline

The Dio NPC only speaks to Joestar bloodline players. The prompt is blunt about it, telling you that “Only a Joestar can carry the Stand Arrow.” If you are not in the Joestar clan, the questline will not open.

RequirementDetail
ClanJoestar (the legendary bloodline)
Cost to begin$5,000,000 paid to the Dio NPC
NPC locationRuin City
Clan passive usedInherited Resolve (powers Defy Fate)

The Joestar passive, Inherited Resolve, is central to the early quests. Every 5% of your Max HP taken as damage grants 1 Resolve. At 5 Resolve, Defy Fate awakens for 60 seconds, giving +20% damage, +15% damage reduction, and +8% lifesteal. When Defy Fate ends, Resolve goes on a 60-second cooldown.

The four Dio quests in order

The questline runs as four back-to-back challenges. Each one must be finished before the next unlocks.

Survive 5 Full Defy Fate Awakenings in Combat. Trigger Defy Fate by taking damage from a strong boss, since heavy hits build Resolve fast. A high-level target such as Chihora is a reliable way to fill the meter and awaken the passive five separate times.

Slay 25 Special Bosses While Defy Fate Burns. Kills only count while Defy Fate is active, so time your boss damage to land during the 60-second window. Plan around the 60-second Resolve cooldown between awakenings.
Defeat 20 Lv.15000+ Bosses Without Dying. Every target must be level 15,000 or higher, and dying resets your progress. Chihora fits the level requirement here as well.
Collect 30 Broken Stand Arrow Fragments by Defeating Dio. Spawn the Dio boss at the sacrifice table and defeat it repeatedly until you have all 30 fragments. These fragments feed directly into the crafting step.

Crafting the Blood-Stained Stand Arrow

After the fourth quest, return to the Dio NPC to craft the Blood-Stained Stand Arrow. The recipe pulls in the fragments you collected plus Vampire Blood, and it has a rank gate.

Beat Shadow Dio in The Stopped World

With the arrow crafted, you enter The Stopped World to face the Shadow Dio boss. Winning this fight is the final gate. It unlocks The World spec and grants the title “He Who Stopped Time.”

You know it worked when the spec unlocks under the name The World and the title appears on your character. From there, you can enchant the spec, which the moveset scales with up to +10.

The World moveset and Merciless Knives passive

The World runs on time-stop mechanics. Its passive, Merciless Knives, rewards you for landing skills and punishes enemies harder while your own Za Warudo is active.

When your Z or X connects, The World hurls five knives at the target, and as the skill ends it blurs onto them for a heavy kick. Inside your own Za Warudo, every M1 throws another volley of knives instead of punching, and those knives hang in stopped air until time resumes. During time stop, the Z and X moves hit twice as hard, C hits three times as hard, and all three run at half cooldown.

Common reasons the questline stalls

  • You are not in the Joestar clan, so the Dio NPC will not open the quest.
  • Boss kills in quest two do not count because Defy Fate was not active when you finished the target.
  • Quest three progress resets after you die, since it requires 20 kills without dying.
  • Crafting fails without all 30 fragments, 15 Vampire Blood, $25,000,000, and Rank SS or higher.

Line up the Defy Fate window with your boss kills, keep enough cash and Vampire Blood on hand for the craft, and the path to The World comes down to grinding the four quests in order before the Shadow Dio fight.
