Catch an Iris, swap it into your active battle party, and stand in the middle of the circle to trigger the dance.

The Fragrant Colors quest in Aniimo stops being a simple fetch task the moment it asks you to Twine with an Iris. The flower creatures gathered in the Sea of Flowers are waiting on a lead dancer, and the game will not hand you the prompt until you are standing in the right spot, wearing the right body.

Quick answer: Catch an Iris, put it in your deployed Battle Party 1, Twine with it in the field, then walk into the center of the Iris circle and press F to lead the dance.

What Twining with Iris means

Twining lets you become an Aniimo you have already collected and use its abilities directly, rather than issuing commands to it as a companion. That distinction is the whole puzzle here. The Irises in the circle are looking for one of their own to take the middle, so a Pathfinder standing there in human form gets nothing but complaints.

Because you control the creature itself while Twined, the dance plays out as a synchronized aerial animation with every Iris around you. You can drop out of the form at any time with the C Untwine prompt.

Catch an Iris in the Sea of Flowers first

Fragrant Colors opens in the Sea of Flowers, part of the Breezy Plains, and its first objective is to catch an Iris. The group you need is the one already standing in a loose circle in the pink field. Any Iris nearby will do, including one of the dancers themselves.

You cannot skip this step with an Iris you have seen but not caught. Twining only works with an Aniimo that is in your collection.

Put Iris in your active battle party

A freshly caught Iris does not automatically become something you can turn into. It has to be deployed before the field will let you switch to it.

Open the main menu and find the row of tabs along the top, which includes Inventory, Animo Management, Anilog, Log, Friends, Character, Appearance and Party. Select Animo Management.
Browse your collected Aniimo and select Iris. Her stat panel appears alongside the Level Up and Training actions, which confirms you have the right creature highlighted.

Swap Iris into Battle Party 1, the deployed party, replacing whichever member you do not need for the moment. Close the menu once the slot shows Iris.

Twine with Iris and lead the dance

Back in the field, cycle your companion until Iris is the active one, then Twine with her. Your Pathfinder is replaced by the small yellow flower creature, and the Fragrant Colors objective on the left updates to reflect that you are now Twined.

Walk into the middle of the ring of Irises. Their dialogue bubbles are the positional cue you want, with lines such as “The lead dancer stands in the middle!” and “The lead dancer still isn’t here?” pointing you to the exact spot.
When the F Lead the dance prompt appears, press it. The circle lifts into a synchronized aerial routine, and a short cutscene follows in which a Friendly Iris greets you with “Hello there, good friend! Can I help you?”
After the rewards land, press C to Untwine and return to your Pathfinder for the rest of the quest.

Dance rewards and how to confirm it worked

RewardAmount
Iris Pollenx1
Large Amber Sweetyx1

Two signals tell you the objective is done. The reward popup shows Iris Pollen and Large Amber Sweety, and the quest tracker swaps from the dance objective to Catch a Flutternym. If the tracker still reads the dance step, the prompt did not fire and you are likely standing outside the circle’s center.

The rest of Fragrant Colors

The dance is the midpoint of the quest, not the end of it. Three objectives remain, and none of them need Iris form.

  • Head to the split-apart house and catch a Flutternym flying nearby.
  • Follow the marker to the dancing Irisal and beat it. It is an Alpha Aniimo, so bring a full party.
  • Move to the final objective marker and watch the cutscenes.

The V Track the target prompt is worth using while you chase the Flutternym, since it keeps the creature marked as it moves across the flower field.

One quirk to expect at the finish: the usual end-of-quest screen does not appear after the closing cutscenes, even though Fragrant Colors is complete and the story rolls straight on to The Land of Dancing Illusions.
