How hosted-world co-op, the three duo Sanctums, Egg Heist, and trade-only Aniimo work, and what stays fully solo.

Aniimo is a hybrid game. The whole adventure across the continent of Idyll can be played by one person, yet it also lets you pull in friends to catch creatures, fight bosses, and clear puzzles together. Multiplayer is opt-in, not a wall, and knowing exactly where the two overlap saves you from either grinding a locked puzzle alone or assuming you need a party for everything.

Quick answer: Aniimo supports up to four-player co-op, three-player Egg Heist, and crossplay, but nearly everything, including story, catching, and world bosses, is fully solo. Only three Sanctums require a second player.

What you can play solo in Aniimo

The default state of Aniimo is one player in a private world, closer to a Genshin-style session model than a shared server. The main campaign and the vast majority of the game are built to be finished alone, at your own pace.

  • Main story quests, side quests, and world exploration
  • Catching, evolving, and filling out your roster of over 200 Aniimo
  • Elite Training and daily activities
  • The Homeland base tied to your RV, including farming and assigning Aniimo to work
  • The Holo-Battle Simulator roguelite endgame mode
  • The game has 14 of its 17 Sanctums, plus Egg Heist Team Mode.

Alpha and Omega take place in your personal world, with each attempt costing Primegy instead of requiring a party. You may invite a friend to fight alongside you, letting both players try the catch, but joining forces is optional rather than mandatory. These encounters are worth calling out because players often report their requirements incorrectly.

Solo is a way of playing, not an offline mode. Aniimo requires an active, continuous internet connection on every platform, so a train ride through a dead zone or an outage means no game at all.

The three Sanctums that require two players

Exploration has one genuine progression barrier. Most Sanctums are puzzles for one player, while three require two people because a lone player cannot physically reach the exit. For instance, one Pathfinder may need to hold a pressure plate as the other moves across a gap. Together, those Sanctums contain enough chests that avoiding them means giving up meaningful loot.

The game provides its own solution: each of the three Sanctums offers matchmaking, letting a solo player find a partner without keeping a permanent co-op group. No special equipment is needed to enter, because the statues within supply every ability used there. You only need a nearby teleporter for access to the entrance.

Operation: Egg Heist, solo and in a team

Aniimo’s extraction-focused PvPvE activity is called Egg Heist. One to three Pathfinders drop onto the Lost Isles, dig a rare egg from a protected nest, and must bring it to the Egg Boat and evacuate within 30 minutes. Fainting means losing both your backpack and all equipped items. The mode becomes available at level 50 after you attain Wayfarer III rank.

Team Mode lets a solo player queue without filling the remaining slots, preventing unwanted matchmaking with strangers. Normal is tuned for one player: it has no entry-rank requirement, deals substantially less damage than Hard, and awards the same Prismana Shell Shards at the finish. A dedicated Normal run takes roughly eight minutes.

Solo players should avoid investing in one particular talent: Self-Revival activates only if a teammate remains alive, making it useless when you enter alone. Put those points into something else. The six-team operation is the part solo play cannot access; it is its own queue, launches only after six complete teams of three are ready, and requires a higher Egg Heist rank than Team Mode. Consider it a group-only activity.

Aniimo you can only get through co-op or trading

Certain creatures are unavailable for capture in your own world. Fulmintis and Dazmand must be caught in somebody else’s world, making co-op the practical way to add them to your roster. Alternatively, you can trade with a friend for either one without hosting or joining a session.

Fulmintis is an Electric-type DPS from the Season 1 Keepsakes region, evolved from Wisptis. It is the kind of Aniimo that rewards keeping an active friend network, since both catching it in a shared world and swapping for it depend on playing with others.

How co-op works: hosted worlds and shared progress

Aniimo uses hosted worlds instead of a permanently shared server. One player acts as host, the others enter that player’s world, and the group explores there together. World co-op supports up to four players and includes built-in voice chat for coordinating fights and puzzles. The key issue is which player’s progress is recorded.

ActivityShared in co-op?
Wild catchesYes, each player catches for their own roster
Boss and Alpha fightsYes, both can contribute and attempt the catch
Chests and gatheringGuests can receive loot near the host
Main story questsNo, story progress is host-only
Waypoints and world changesNo, saved on the host only

Progress belongs to the host: completed quests, activated waypoints, and constructed structures remain on that player’s world. As a result, a group cannot finish the campaign together. Use co-op for catches, bosses, and puzzles, not for completing the story jointly.

Let the player with the least progress create the session. Quest steps finished there will count for the player who needs them, avoiding a later repeat. Guests should remain near the host and check that a chest actually dropped instead of relying on its animation.

How to invite friends to your world

Select Friends after opening the in-game menu.
Look up the player with the search bar using their ID or username, and send an invitation. With no current teammates, search global chat for players or approach people at an Outpost to add them.
After they accept, view that player’s profile and press the rightmost icon to issue the game invite. The connection succeeded when the player enters your world and shows up beside you.

Invitations control co-op, so roaming Idyll will not place you alongside random players. When a difficult battle needs another party member, you can also add an AI teammate to assist your team.

Social hubs, trading, duels, and crossplay

Outside your own world, Aniimo has shared public spaces where players gather. Astra city, Outposts, campfires, and RV parks all let you see other Pathfinders, duel them, buy from shops, and hatch eggs together. Trading starts from a friend relationship rather than an anonymous market, and duels are the friendly way to measure one roster against another.

Aniimo supports multiplayer across platforms, allowing people on separate devices to join the same play session. The game is available on PC, Xbox, and PS5, and its mobile release was added on September 23, 2026. Provided the mode allows it, a console player can host for a PC friend, and a PC player can host for someone on console. In practice, invite the friend, let the player who needs the progress host, and use that session to handle catches, bosses, and Aniimo that are unreachable alone.
