Progression in Anime Expeditions runs on a large pool of items. Some act as currencies for summoning and shopping, while others feed unit levels, reroll stats and traits, craft equipment, or unlock evolutions. Because these materials come from many different modes, it helps to know exactly what each one does before you start spending.
Quick answer: Farm Gems and Gold from Story Mode first, grind Grey Sprites and Challenges for evolution materials, and save Trait Crystals and Stat Rerolls for your strongest Mythic units. Evolution quest items only drop from a unit’s dedicated trial.

Currencies used for summoning and shops
Currencies are the resources you spend most often. Gems pull units, Gold covers everyday purchases and crafting, and the rest are tied to specific shops or game modes.
| Currency | How to get | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Gems | Story, Challenges, Quests, Achievements, Events, Beginner Path, codes | Main currency for summoning units from banners |
| Gold | Story, Raids, Challenges, Quests, level milestones, selling Shiny units | Gold Shop and cosmetics, crafting, and unit evolution |
| Event Coins | Limited-time events | Spend in the Event Shop |
| Beginner Tickets | Beginner Path chapters | Summon on the Beginner Banner, which guarantees Mythic units after enough pulls |
| Expedition Coins | Expedition game mode | Unlock buildings and buy from the Expedition Shop |
| Crown | Tournament and Global Tournament | Currency for the Tournament Shop |
| Raid Tokens | Clearing general Raids | Buy items from the general Raid Shop |
| Spirit Tokens | Spirit City Raid Acts 1, 2, and 3 | Buy items from the Spirit City Raid Shop |
Note: Gems are the scarcest of these, so hold them until a strong Mythic or Secret unit is on a banner. Gold comes in steadily, so spending it on roster upgrades is safe.

Add to Google Preferences →Sprites for evolution and crafting
Sprites are the backbone of the crafting system. Grey Sprites are the base resource, and you convert them into colored versions used for evolutions, equipment, and ascension. You gather Grey Sprites from Story stages and farming, then craft the rest at the crafting station.
| Sprite | How to get | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Grey Sprite | Story stages, Mastery stages, Challenges, crafting | Core material for creating higher-tier Sprites |
| Yellow Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Unit evolution and equipment crafting |
| Red Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Unit evolution and equipment crafting |
| Blue Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Unit evolution and equipment crafting |
| Green Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Evolution, equipment crafting, and ascension |
| Pink Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Unit evolution |
| Purple Sprite | Crafted from Grey Sprites, Challenges | Unit evolution |
| Rainbow Sprite | Daily and Weekly Challenges, crafting | High-level unit evolution |
Rainbow Sprites are the hardest to produce and tend to gate the stronger evolutions, so keep a steady supply of Grey Sprites coming in to feed the chain.
Evolution quest items and which units they upgrade
Most evolution items come from a unit’s own trial, found in its quest menu. Each one unlocks a single upgraded form. The Holy Pendant is the exception, since it is crafted rather than dropped.
| Item | Evolves | Where to get |
|---|---|---|
| Burning Fruit | Flame Emperor to Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) | The Fire That Spread trial |
| Joker of the Nonsensical Pirates | String Demon to String Demon (Awakened) | Strings of Captivity trial, Rose Kingdom (Story) |
| Student ID | Cursed Student to Cursed Student (True Love) | Love & Loss trial, School Grounds (Story) |
| Salmon | Salmon Sorcerer to Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) | Tuna Tuna trial, School Grounds (Story) |
| Puppet Heart | Puppet to Puppet (Telekinetic) | A Puppet’s Heart trial, Fairy King Forest (Story) |
| Giant Hammer | Lady Giant to Lady Giant (Envy) | Giant’s Resolve trial, Fairy King Forest (Story) |
| Elixir of Life | Hollow to Hollow (Blaze) | Elixir of Life trial, Flower Forest (Story) |
| Cosmic Magic | Elf Mage to Elf Mage (Unleashed) | Last Great Elvan Mage trial, King’s Tomb (Story) |
| Hollowed Visor | Reaper to Reaper (Released) | Mirror of the False Moonblade trial, Spirit City Raid |
| 8th’s Sword | 8th Sword to 8th Sword (Berserk) | Way of the Strongest trial, Spirit City Raid |
| Holy Pendant | True Saint to True Saint (Holy) | Crafted with 10,000 Gold, 3x Red Sprite, 3x Pink Sprite |
Food items and how much XP they give
Food items level up your units directly. You buy most of them from the Gold Shop or the Wandering Trader, and each Story map drops a specific one. The higher an item’s EXP value, the fewer you need to reach the next level.
| Item | EXP given | Where to get |
|---|---|---|
| Cursed Boba | 700 | School Grounds (Story), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
| Red Flower | 1,000 | Flower Forest (Story), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
| Frown Fruit | 1,500 | Rose Kingdom (Story), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
| Delicious Pie | 1,750 | Fairy King Forest (Story), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
| Bunny Candy | 2,000 | Spirit City (Raid), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
| Mana Flask | 2,000 | King’s Tomb (Story), Wandering Trader, Gold Shop |
Mana Flask doubles as a crafting ingredient in higher-level recipes, so hold a few back if you are working toward equipment or evolution crafts.
Reroll and lock materials for stats and equipment
These items improve units you already own rather than giving new ones. Rerolls change hidden potential, and locks protect a good result while you reroll the rest. Every stat reroll shifts Damage, Range, and SPA at once, so locking a strong roll before you reroll again is the safe play.
| Material | How to get | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Trait Crystal | Story, Raids, Events, Challenges, Quests, Tournaments, Achievements, shops, codes | Reroll a unit’s trait for stronger passives |
| Stat Reroll | Challenges, Achievements, Gold Shop, Raid Shops, Event Shop | Reroll a unit’s Damage, Range, and SPA potential |
| Stat Lock | Challenges, Achievements, Gold Shop, Raid Shops, Event Shop | Lock one stat so it survives a reroll |
| Equipment Reroll | Daily and Weekly Challenges, Gold Shop, Raid Shops, Event Shop | Reroll an equipment’s substats |
| Equipment Lock | Daily and Weekly Challenges, Gold Shop, Raid Shops, Event Shop | Lock one equipment substat during a reroll |
Tip: Trait Crystals are among the most valuable resources in the game. Save them for your best Mythics instead of spending them on early characters you will replace.
Expedition materials for equipment and buildings
Expedition materials are exclusive to the Expedition game mode. You use them to craft gear at the Armory and to upgrade Expedition buildings. Each map contributes its own resource, while Equipment Scrap and Fuel Cell drop across several maps.
| Material | Where it drops | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Cursed Timber | School Grounds in Expeditions | Craft equipment and upgrade Expedition buildings |
| Lush Dirt | Flower Forest in Expeditions | Craft equipment and upgrade Expedition buildings |
| Aqua Shard | Rose Kingdom in Expeditions | Craft equipment and upgrade Expedition buildings |
| Equipment Scrap | School Grounds, Flower Forest, Rose Kingdom in Expeditions | Craft equipment and upgrade Expedition buildings |
| Fuel Cell | School Grounds, Flower Forest, Rose Kingdom in Expeditions | Craft equipment and upgrade Expedition buildings |
Raid totems, premium potions, and other items
A handful of items sit outside the main progression buckets. The Spirit City Totem is a raid boost, the Luck Potions are premium consumables bought with Robux, and Mana Flask (covered above) crosses over between food and crafting.
| Item | How to get | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Spirit City Totem | Spirit City Raid Shop | Increases your units’ damage by 10% inside Spirit City Raids |
| Luck Potion | Robux purchase | Increases the chance of summoning a higher-rarity unit |
| Super Luck Potion | Robux purchase | A larger boost to summon rates than the standard Luck Potion |
The Holy Pendant appears in the item list but is unusual in that its only confirmed role is crafting the True Saint evolution. If you are not building that unit, there is no reason to gather the crafting components for it.
What to farm first
If you are early in the game, clearing Story Mode gives the fastest return because it feeds Gems, Gold, Grey Sprites, and food all at once. After that, run Challenges daily for Sprites and reroll materials, then move into Raids and Tournaments for tokens and Crowns once your main team is evolved.
- Gems and Gold for everyday summoning and upgrades
- Grey Sprites and colored Sprites for evolutions and equipment
- Trait Crystals and Stat Rerolls once you have Mythics worth investing in
- Raid Tokens and Crowns for endgame shop rewards
Anime Expeditions is still in its early access phase, so new items and crafting materials will keep arriving with updates, and a few current entries may pick up new uses. For now, prioritizing Story, Challenges, Raids, Expeditions, and limited-time events gives you access to nearly every resource needed to strengthen your roster.
