The Elven Battle Staff is a unit-specific piece of equipment in Anime Expeditions built for one character only. It locks to Elf Mage (Unleashed), the evolved form of Elf Mage, and it replaces that unit’s base passive with a stronger version called Arcane Spells. Alongside the passive, it rolls a small damage boost and a reduction to SPA so the unit attacks faster.
Quick answer: Clear the King’s Tomb Mastery stage to earn the Elven Battle Staff at a 5% drop chance, with a 20-run pity that guarantees it by your 20th clear. It can only be equipped after Elf Mage is evolved into Elf Mage (Unleashed).

Requirements before you can equip the Elven Battle Staff
Two things must line up. You need the drop itself, and you need the correct unit form to slot it into. Because the staff is unit-locked, obtaining it early does nothing until Elf Mage is evolved.
Elf Mage evolves into Elf Mage (Unleashed) using the following materials. Confirm the recipe on the Evolution screen before spending anything, since the Rainbow Sprite and Cosmic Magic are limited.
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cosmic Magic | 1 |
| Blue Sprites | 20 |
| Purple Sprites | 20 |
| Rainbow Sprite | 1 |
| Gold | 5,000 |
Cosmic Magic comes from completing Elf Mage’s unit quest. Keep it locked so you do not feed or sell it by accident. Once the evolution is confirmed, Elf Mage (Unleashed) becomes eligible to hold the staff.

The staff drops from the Mastery mode of King’s Tomb, the fifth Story Mode area. King’s Tomb is made up of five regular Acts plus an Infinite Act and a Mastery Act. Only the Mastery Act can reward the Elven Battle Staff, so clearing the standard Acts alone will not produce it.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Source | King’s Tomb (Mastery) |
| Drop chance | 5% per clear |
| Pity | Guaranteed by the 20th Mastery clear |
| Alternate route | Craft at the Armory Forge (Expedition Hub) |
If you would rather not rely on the 5% roll, the staff can also be crafted at the Armory Forge once you have the required materials. Either path gives you the same item, and the stats are randomized on the copy you receive.
Tip: Farming this on Mastery difficulty also feeds other progression, since Mastery stages return Sprites you will spend on evolutions.
Stats and the Arcane Spells passive
The Elven Battle Staff carries two rollable substats. Both are randomized when the item drops, and you can push them higher later with Equipment Rerolls while protecting a good roll using Equipment Lock.
- Damage: +1% to +5%
- SPA: -1% to -5% (lower SPA means faster attacks)
The important part is the passive. Arcane Spells completely overrides Elf Mage (Unleashed)’s original passive and turns the unit’s charge system into a series of scaling area attacks. Every Arcane Spell counts as a Follow-Up Attack, so these casts land on top of the unit’s normal attacks rather than replacing them.
| Charges | Spell | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Old Magic | Line AoE dealing 100% of current damage |
| 5 | Eruption | Circle AoE dealing 125% of current damage and applying Mana Burn |
| 7 | Storm | Full AoE dealing 150% of current damage |
Because the follow-ups come in different shapes, placement matters. A line attack works best when enemies approach along a straight path, while a circle attack is stronger when enemies cluster around a bend. Position Elf Mage next to a straight approach that ends in a turn so both shapes have targets.
How to confirm the staff is working
After equipping it on Elf Mage (Unleashed), the unit’s base passive text is swapped for Arcane Spells. In combat you should see the extra line, circle, and full-screen casts fire as charges hit 3, 5, and 7. If those casts never appear, the most common cause is that the staff is sitting in your inventory unequipped, or that the unit is still in its base Elf Mage form rather than Unleashed.
Keep in mind the staff cannot be placed on any other unit. It is exclusive to Elf Mage (Unleashed), so it will not slot onto a different character even if the stat rolls look appealing.
Elf Mage remains a capable Mythic carry through its own Arcane kit even without the staff, but the Arcane Spells passive is the strongest documented synergy for that attack loop. If Elf Mage is your main damage dealer, the Elven Battle Staff is the long-term farm target that most improves its area coverage in harder content.
