Borderlands 4: Loveless One-Shot Sniper Build (Visual Paradox Nexus)

How to set up the Visual Paradox Nexus sniper build that stores shot damage and deletes bosses in a single hit.

How to set up the Visual Paradox Nexus sniper build that stores shot damage and deletes bosses in a single hit.

Loveless, the sixth Vault Hunter in Borderlands 4, can turn slow-firing Sniper Rifles into a one-shot engine. The Visual Paradox Nexus (VPN) build stores the damage of your first shots in Stealth and then unloads it in a single melee wave, which is enough to erase most bosses and clear packs of enemies before they react.

Quick answer: Run VPN with Stack Overflow, enter Stealth, fire three sniper shots, then trigger your Function (Kusarigama) so the stored damage lands as one massive hit.

How the one-shot damage works

The core of the build is the Stack Overflow augment. Whenever Loveless enters Stealth, the damage from her next three gun shots is stored. Her next Function or Executable then spends that stored value as bonus damage in a single strike. Because sniper hits already land for huge numbers, the stored total becomes the payload that deletes a target.

Two skills push that payload higher. Refactored Damage Formula multiplies Sniper Rifle damage, and it must be pushed past its base rank with a class mod, since a +1 roll doubles sniper damage instead of adding a flat 10 percent. Methodical adds up to +100 percent Gun Damage on slow-firing weapons, which is exactly why this build wants heavy, low fire-rate snipers rather than fast ones.

VPN itself layers on the extra numbers. It grants 25 percent Critical Hit Damage while active and 50 percent bonus damage while you are in Stealth. The first shot after entering Stealth also carries a large bonus to critical damage, so lining up that opening headshot matters.

Stack Overflow only consumes if the Function actually hits an enemy, so a missed Kusarigama swing keeps your stored damage banked for the next attempt.

Skill allocation for Visual Paradox Nexus

Set your Action Skill to Visual Paradox Nexus, take Stack Overflow as your Augment for bosses, and grab accelerat.exe as your capstone. accelerat.exe spawns your maximum clones instantly and manifests an Acceleration Gate that gives your shots a 250 percent Amp boost and +50 percent projectile speed until you have fired three times, absorbing any active clones for extra shots.

Hack / Slash (Blue) tree

The blue tree carries most of your damage and uptime. Prioritize these passives:

  • Disdain (5/5): +25% Critical Hit Damage, your main damage multiplier.
  • Odium (3/3): Boosts melee crits with Disdain, feeding Stack Overflow and Groundbreaker.
  • Ratio Technique: Extra gun and melee Critical Hit Chance.
  • Death Begets Death: Kill Skill that restores Action Skill duration, doubled on crit or melee kills.
  • Methodical (5/5): Up to +100% Gun Damage on low fire-rate snipers.
  • Killing Machine: Kills refund your Function and part of your Executable cooldown.
  • Refactored Damage Formula (1/1): Multiplies sniper damage, doubled with a +1 class mod roll.

Manifestation (Red) and Virology (Green) support

The red tree adds Action Skill scaling that buffs the Kusarigama. Overclock gives +40 percent Action Skill Damage and +25 percent duration, Critically Acclaimed has a 50 percent chance to refund Action Skill duration on crit kills, and Neurokinetics raises melee damage and heals you from it. Corrupted Path boosts Radiation damage for the melee waves.

In the green Virology tree, Established Gameplay Loop, Nootropic Energy Drink, and Wide Net improve reload, Stack Overflow, and splash coverage, while a single point in System Restore is a strong survival pick.

Weapons and gear

You want a Sniper Rifle that hits hard and fires slowly. Any option that can roll a Torgue (Impact Mag) part is preferred for the guaranteed critical impact.

SlotPickWhy
SniperTruck / Solar Temper / PRISMHigh impact, slow fire rate
Class ModMontage MakerNeeds +1 Refactored Damage Formula
ShieldGuardian Angel / Watts 4 Dinner150% Amp for gun damage
RepkitTriple BypassAmp and Action Skill recovery
OrdnanceJakobs Crit Throwing KnifeGuaranteed crit on bosses
FirmwareHigh CaliberGun damage and bullet pierce

The Montage Maker class mod is the keystone, and you farm it from Vile Lictor. You need a drop with +1 in Refactored Damage Formula so it doubles your sniper damage. The mod also lets sniper kills enter Stealth for two seconds, always triggering on Critical Hit Kills, and grants +50 percent damage while in Stealth.

For the shield, chase an Amp roll so a full shield adds gun damage on your next shot. On the repkit, Amp again is the main target, adding up to +200 percent Gun Damage after use. For your Enhancement, look for Sniper Damage or crit-focused rolls that match your gun’s manufacturer.

Firmware and Specializations

Slot High Caliber on your Ordnance and Class Mod for gun damage and pierce, use Active Fire for chargeable weapons like Solar Temper, and split remaining points into Skillcraft. For Specializations, take I Am A Gun and Groundbreaker, then round out with defensive and offensive picks such as The Best Defense and In The Zone. Spare points go into Brute for extra gun damage.

Activate Visual Paradox Nexus to enter Stealth and spawn your clones.
Activate accelerat.exe to open the Acceleration Gate and absorb your clones for the 250 percent Amp boost.

Fire three sniper shots to bank their damage into Stack Overflow, aiming for the head on the first shot.
Use your Function to swing the Kusarigama into the target, spending the stored damage as one large hit that usually kills bosses outright.
Follow up with a melee attack and finish with Groundbreaker if anything survives, then repeat as kills refresh your cooldowns.

For bossing, keep Stack Overflow equipped and throw a Crit Knife before your Kusarigama hit to lock in the critical multiplier. You will know the loop is working when a single Function swing empties a boss health bar in one strike and your kills keep the Action Skill and Function cooldowns rolling with almost no downtime.
