Enshrouded 1.0: How to Make Mana Potions at the Alchemist

Place the Mortar to unlock the recipe, then scale through five tiers up to 450 Mana per sip.

Mana Potions in Enshrouded are made by the Alchemist, and the recipe stays locked until he has a Mortar. The basic potion restores mana in a single sip, while higher tiers refill far more and some versions keep topping you up over time. Every version is made at the Alchemist in a sheltered spot, with the station requirement climbing as the tiers go up.

Quick answer: During “The Alchemist’s Mortar” quest, retrieve the Mortar and set it close enough for the Alchemist to reach. Learning the Mortar immediately opens the Mana Potion recipe, which uses 2 Azure Russula and restores 80 Mana.

Unlock the Mana Potion recipe with the Mortar

Before any Mana Potion can be crafted, the Alchemist needs a Mortar. You first have to recruit him through the Powerful Alchemy quest and summon him at your base. After that, the The Alchemist’s Mortar quest sends you to the Alchemist’s Tower to retrieve the tool itself.

Start “The Alchemist’s Mortar” from your journal and travel to the Alchemist’s Tower.
Collect the Mortar inside the tower. The game confirms it with “Special Item Acquired! Mortar” and “Recipe Unlocked: Wisp of Light (+14 more) at Alchemist”. The quest area also holds a Mana Potion you can pick up for +80 Mana.

Check the Mortar in your backpack. Its item text reads: “A fine mortar. This should enable an Alchemist to broaden their crafting spectrum when placed within their reach.”
Set the Mortar at your base where the Alchemist can reach it. The game displays “Quest Completed: The Alchemist’s Mortar”. With the Mortar in his reach, the Alchemist can craft the Mana Potion.

The basic Mana Potion costs 2 Azure Russula and restores 80 Mana. Its description notes that it is “Created with mana-potent ingredients, the Mana Potion restores a good amount of mana.” The Azure Russula is “an ancient mushroom, existing and consuming magic since the beginning of time. Unfortunately inedible if not cooked.”

Keep the Alchemist under shelter when making any Mana Potion. Recipes for tiers beyond the basic one also need an Alchemy Station or Laboratory set within the Alchemist’s range.

Every Mana Potion tier and its recipe

Each tier refills more mana and needs a more advanced station. The Alchemy Station handles the Greater tier, and the Laboratory is required for everything above it.

Learning Alchemical Base adds the Greater Mana Potion recipe. The Ultimate Mana Potion becomes available with Shroud Sludge, while Diamond Dust opens the Ancient Mana Potion. Gentian is used for the Superior tier; the two highest tiers use materials including Green Vitriol Dust and Active Mycelium.

The “+” Mana Potions that refill over 10 seconds

Each tier has a “+” version. It takes one of the normal potion plus a single extra ingredient, restores less mana up front, and then keeps replenishing mana for 10 seconds. A “+” recipe unlocks once you know the normal potion it is built from.
