Far Far West: How to Complete the Hellfire Map Secret

The Hellfire region in Far Far West hides a puzzle built around a ring named The Precious, a clear nod to a certain fantasy saga. Solving it means pulling the ring out of a trap-filled dungeon, hauling it across the map, and destroying it inside the volcano. Do all three and you earn a fresh Joker.

Quick answer: Grab the One Ring from the dungeon in the far northern (top-right) part of Hellfire, carry it to the volcano with two sticks of dynamite, blast open both walls, climb to the top, and throw the ring into the lava to unlock the secret Joker.

Unlock Hellfire first

Hellfire is the lava-filled map added in the Frostburn update, and you cannot reach its secret until the region itself is open. To unlock it, finish the Jungle questline, which sends you through three underground dungeons to collect the ancient scrolls. Once that questline is done, Hellfire becomes available on the World Map.

Bringing plenty of firepower helps, since the volcano route is guarded by enemies. Running this in a co-op lobby with one to four players makes the ring-carrying section far easier to manage.

Find and claim the One Ring

Head to the extreme northern edge of the map, in the top-right area. The ring sits in a short dungeon tucked into a cave-like structure.

Listen for the traps. They give off noise as you get close, and you can spot a small green sparkle marking the dungeon entrance. Use both cues to pinpoint the spot.

Go inside and work through the trap puzzle. The traps are stationary, so move carefully and thread past them without taking hits. Reach the end and pick up the One Ring.

What carrying the ring does

Holding the ring changes the screen to a disorienting black-and-white effect, which makes movement harder to read. The ring does not make you invisible or invincible, so enemies can still hit you the whole way to the volcano.

Note: If you drop the ring, it lands on the ground labeled “The Precious,” so it is easy to find and pick back up.

Carry the ring to the volcano and blow the walls

The ring can only be destroyed at the volcano, so that is your next destination. Bring two sticks of dynamite before you start climbing, because the path is blocked by two separate walls.

At the base of the volcano, use the first stick of dynamite to blow open the wall blocking the path. This clears the way up.

Climb to the top and use the second stick on the next wall. If you only brought one, turn around at the second wall and take the path on the right, where a dynamite box gives you another stick.

With both walls destroyed, keep climbing and follow the route until you reach the inside of the volcano.

Destroy the ring and unlock the Joker

Inside the volcano, toss The Precious into the lava. That single action destroys the ring and completes the Hellfire secret. You will know it worked when the new Joker unlocks as your reward for finishing the puzzle.

If the secret fails to trigger, the usual causes are dropping the ring and never picking it back up, or reaching the second wall without a second charge of dynamite. Grab another stick from the box on the right-hand path and finish the climb to complete it.
