Carbon Crate is a Rare, regionless catch in Fisch, so it can technically hook in any body of water. The catch rate is low if you cast at random, which is why the farm comes down to two things: a rod and bait built to pull crates, and a spot where crates are the only thing biting.
Quick answer: For dependable crate catches, put Magnet Bait on the Magnet Rod and cast in either Sunstone Island’s crate cave pool or the deep Ocean; check the label at the screen’s top for “Ocean.” Crates come reliably from both locations.
The gear that forces crates onto your hook
Weather, time, and season have no effect on Carbon Crates, so focus on landing crates rather than fish. About 95% of casts with the Magnet Rod bring up a crate. Your location determines which type you get.

With 200 Preferred Luck, Magnet Bait makes crates, geodes, and similar items more likely to be among your catches. Pair it with the Magnet Rod when farming crates. A Carbon Crate is simple to reel in once hooked: its Resilience is 50, and it moves slowly across the catch bar.

Head to Terrapin Island and visit the village stall labeled “Merchant” to buy the Magnet Rod for 15,000 C$. Travel there from the starting area, select Shop Purchase, and purchase the rod; there is no need to buy another. Equip Magnet Bait before going fishing.

Add to Google Preferences →Sunstone Island crate cave: crates on every cast
A hidden pool in a Sunstone Island cave yields crates only: Common Crates, Bait Crates, Quality Bait Crates, and Carbon Crates. That makes each catch progress toward your goal. From Moosewood, travel northeast past Haddock Rock to reach the island.
Around Sunstone Island, the Magnet Rod makes Quality Bait Crates the likely result of nearly every catch. For Carbon Crates in particular, use the dedicated cave pool instead.
Open Ocean farming
For open-water fishing, steer your boat beyond the docks of islands such as Moosewood until the location marker at the top of the screen reads “Ocean.” This indicates deep water, where Carbon Crates spawn.

The same crate also appears in the surrounding oceans of Ancient Isle, Atlantis, and Snowcap Island, as well as in special spawns. If the prompt “A strange whirlpool has opened” appears, that whirlpool is a dense spot to cast into.
Hostile creatures may enter the area during open-ocean events. An alert such as “A Livyatan was sighted circling Ancient Isle” indicates that a large creature is close by; fish from a safe distance from your boat.
Non-fishing ways to get a Carbon Crate
You can also get crates into your inventory through two shortcuts that don’t involve fishing.
| Source | Cost / reward | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Travelling Merchant | 490 C$ each | It changes locations and carries just three randomly chosen items at a time, so check where it is now. |
| Angler Quest | A couple of crates per turn-in | Hand in the requested fish to complete it; each completion may reward Carbon Crates. |
Confirming the catch and opening the crate
When a Carbon Crate hooks, an exclamation icon pops above your character and a bell plays, the same cue used for all Rare catches. Your avatar also calls out a line such as “A Carbon Crate!” or “Who left this here?” After the reel-in, an on-screen notice confirms it, for example “You just caught a Carbon Crate at 16kg!”
To open one, go to your Sell Inventory, equip the crate, and activate it. Each crate has an equal chance to give either 130 to 400 C$ or a random fish. Possible fish include Longtail Bass and Squid, which appear twice as often as the rest, alongside Cod, White Bass, Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjack, Barracuda, Eel, Lobster, Pike, Ribbon Eel, Nurse Shark, Abyssacuda, Alligator Gar, Arapaima, Bluefin Tuna, Coelacanth, Halibut, Mahi Mahi, and Sturgeon.
A Carbon Crate at its base weight of 16kg sells for about 338 C$. Opening it is usually the better option, since it may contain rarer fish and bait. Use the Magnet Rod with Magnet Bait at the cave pool or far out in the Ocean to stock up, then open the entire stack together.
