Fisch: How to Complete The Deep Quest With the Toxinburst Rod

Stand still on solid ground in the deep ocean and let the Toxinburst Rod's passive fishing fill your bestiary while AFK.

Stand still on solid ground in the deep ocean and let the Toxinburst Rod’s passive fishing fill your bestiary while AFK.

The Deep Quest in Fisch asks you to catch a long list of deep-sea creatures, and doing that by hand can take hours. The Toxinburst Rod removes most of that grind because it catches fish on its own while you stand still, letting you clear location NPC quests and fill the bestiary without touching the controls.

Quick answer: Equip the Toxinburst Rod, travel to a deep ocean quest area such as the Gloomy Crevice, stand on a solid platform, and leave your character idle. The rod passively hooks fish while you are stationary, completing quest catches and bestiary entries automatically.

Why the Toxinburst Rod works for passive catches

The Toxinburst Rod has a passive fishing ability. It reels in fish automatically without any input, so you do not need to cast or fight each catch manually. That single trait is what makes it useful for clearing The Deep Quest, since every automatic catch counts toward your quest targets and your bestiary.

The one rule that makes passive fishing trigger

Passive fishing does not run while you are swimming. If you are floating or moving through the water, the rod will not catch anything on its own. To make the effect fire reliably, your character has to be standing on solid ground. Platforms, ledges, and other flat surfaces in the deep ocean areas all work, and standing on them is the most consistent way to keep catches coming.

Steps to clear The Deep Quest with passive fishing

Equip the Toxinburst Rod from your inventory so the passive fishing ability is active.
Head down into a deep ocean quest area. The Gloomy Crevice is a reliable spot, and the wider deep and Outer Deep regions hold the same quest fish. Remember that passive fishing pauses while you swim, so getting into position is a manual dive.
Find a solid platform or piece of ground and land your character on it. In the Gloomy Crevice there are flat platforms built for exactly this. A purple cave area nearby also works, as long as you are standing on a firm surface rather than drifting.
Leave your character idle. The rod will keep hooking fish on its own, ticking off quest requirements and adding new species to your bestiary while you stay AFK.

How to confirm it is working

You will see catch notifications appear on screen as fish are reeled in automatically. Deep-sea species tied to The Deep NPCs, including targets like the Noxious Sacabambaspis, Noxious Mantis Shrimp, Noxious Formosa Seabass, Noxious Shortspine Thornyhead, and Noxious Bluntnose Sixgill Shark, will roll in over time. Rare pulls are possible too, such as the Shiny Deep-sea Anglerfish, which has a 1 in 1,708 catch rate.

If nothing is being caught, the most common reason is that your character is still swimming or floating instead of standing. Reposition onto a solid surface and the passive effect should resume. Because the fish pool is tied to the deep ocean, staying inside the correct quest area also matters for pulling the species The Deep NPCs ask for.

Set yourself up on a platform in the Gloomy Crevice, leave the Toxinburst Rod running, and check back periodically as the quest list and bestiary fill themselves out. It turns one of the more tedious parts of Fisch into something you can finish while doing anything else.
