Fisch: How to Get Challenger’s Gauntlets from Glacius

The Challenger’s Gauntlets are a Mythical gloves accessory in Fisch that give you a chance to freeze a hooked fish while you reel it in. You earn them by finishing the quest that Glacius hands out inside Challenger’s Deep, and you cannot buy them from any shop.

Quick answer: Bring the Challenger’s Rod, talk to Glacius in Challenger’s Deep, catch 3 Chilled Hoarfrost Halibut and Perfect Catch 1 Chilled Glacial Gulper, then return to him to claim the gloves.

What the Challenger’s Gauntlets do

Once equipped by holding and clicking the item, the gloves appear on your character’s hands and add a freeze effect during the catch minigame. Every time a hooked fish moves, there is a 15% chance to freeze it for 1 second, with a 3-second cooldown between activations. Those short freezes give you free windows of progress, which helps most against fast, erratic fish.

Requirements before you start

The quest is locked behind one tool. You must already own the Challenger’s Rod, since every target fish has to be caught with it. Glacius will not open his quest without it, and using any other rod will not count toward the objectives.

Find Glacius and open the quest

Open the Traveler’s Whistle menu and select Challenger’s Deep to teleport straight into the region. This drops you close to the icy fishing zone where the quest takes place.

Follow the icy tunnels toward the Challenger’s Rod spawn. Glacius stands opposite the rod, inside the fishing zone. Interact with him to accept both objectives.

Catch the two target fish

Both fish must carry the Chilled mutation and both must be caught with the Challenger’s Rod inside Challenger’s Deep. Each has its own weather, time, season, and bait window, so line those conditions up before you cast.

During Winter, in the daytime, under Clear weather, equip Fish Head bait and catch three Chilled Hoarfrost Halibut. Regular catches count here, so you only need to land them normally.

Wait for Winter, nighttime, and Foggy weather, then switch to Shrimp bait and land one Chilled Glacial Gulper with a Perfect Catch. A normal catch will not count for this objective, so the reel must finish inside the perfect zone.

A Mutated Sharky companion and a Glitched potion raise your odds of rolling the Chilled mutation while you fish for both targets.

Turn in the quest and confirm the reward

With all four catches done, return to Glacius and speak to him again. He completes the quest and hands over the Challenger’s Gauntlets along with 25,000 XP. The gloves land in your inventory, where you can hold and click them to equip and see the freeze model appear on your hands.

Seeing the gloves in your inventory and the XP added to your total confirms the quest registered. From there, the Challenger’s Gauntlets are a solid pick for reeling in fast fish, and they also feed into the combined Mariana’s Gauntlets later on.
