Idol Taiga is the stone-carved companion added to Fisch with Version 2.0, the Skycrest release that went live on September 5, 2026. It roams the giant Ancient Idol statues on the new floating island, and it will only accept one kind of offering: fireflies, handed over during a Tropical Squall.
Quick answer: Reach the required Idol Favor level, trigger or wait for a Tropical Squall, catch fireflies at night on Skycrest, equip one as bait, cast in front of the roaming Idol Taiga near the Ancient Idols, then hold E to feed it until the taming meter hits 100% Unlocked.
What you need before taming Idol Taiga
Three things gate this companion, and none of them can be skipped. Idol Favor is the Skycrest progression level, and the taming interaction will not start until yours is high enough. The weather has to be a Tropical Squall, not ordinary rain or a Raging Squall. And you need at least one firefly variant sitting in your inventory as bait.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Location | Skycrest, near the giant Ancient Idol statues |
| Weather | Tropical Squall active (a totem bought from an NPC can trigger it) |
| Progression | Sufficient Idol Favor level |
| Bait | Any of the four roaming firefly variants |
| Interaction | Cast near the companion, then hold E to feed |
The Companion Satchel itself unlocks at account Level 30 and opens with C. If you have never equipped a companion before, that is a separate prerequisite worth clearing first.

Fireflies are nighttime roaming spawns scattered across Skycrest. They appear as small glowing lights, and you pick them up by walking over to one and pressing E. There are four variants, and all of them double as high-tier bait even if you are not chasing the companion yet.
- Firefly
- Loopy Five
- Blue Ghost
- Gombak Bent-Winged
Because they only roam at night, a sundial-style time totem saves a lot of standing around. Grab more than one before you start the taming attempt, since the companion consumes fireflies as you feed it rather than accepting a single offering.

Taming Idol Taiga at the Ancient Idols

E on the companion to feed it. Keep repeating the feed until the progress reads 100% Unlocked, at which point Idol Taiga is yours and appears in your Companion Satchel. Its in-game entry reads: “A stone-carved guardian of the Ancient Idols that favors those who feed the flame.”

Why the taming attempt fails
If the feed prompt never appears, work through the short list of blockers. Your Idol Favor may still be too low, the active weather may not be a Tropical Squall, you may have no firefly equipped as bait, or your cast may have landed too far from the companion. Fireflies also only spawn at night, so a daytime search will come up empty.
What Idol Taiga does once it is yours
The companion is built around the rest of the Skycrest systems rather than general fishing. It boosts the effects of the Charms you earn from the seven Ancient Idol trials, automatically sacrifices low-rarity catches at the Fire of Spirits during a Tropical Squall, generates extra Idol Favor, and actively spears fish for you.
| Bonus | Effect |
|---|---|
| Charm boost | Increases the effects of equipped Charms |
| Auto-sacrifice | Feeds low-rarity catches to the Fire of Spirits |
| Idol Favor | Grants additional Favor as you play |
| Fish spearing | Actively spears fish on its own |
Companions in Fisch level from 1 to 10, and those levels scale passive abilities, so the auto-sacrifice and Favor gains get stronger the longer you fish with Idol Taiga equipped. Catching fish grants 10 companion XP each, and interacting with or walking the companion adds smaller amounts between catches.
Skycrest itself mixes permanent and limited Fischfest content, so the island is not going anywhere even as the festival material rotates out. Since Idol Taiga feeds directly into the Fire of Spirits loop and the Abaia Hunt that follows it, taming it early makes the rest of the Idol Favor grind noticeably shorter.
