Shunsoku is the speed idol of Skycrest, and every one of its trials is built around how fast you can lure, hook, and reel. Two of them give you a 15-second window, which means a slow rod or the wrong bait will fail the run before you finish reading the objective. Clear all five and you walk away with the Rush Charm, the Progress Speed buff tied to this idol.

Quick answer: Directly catch a fish in under 8 seconds, catch 20 fish with at least 50 Progress Speed, catch one Electric or Electrified Northern Pike at the Astral Cavern in Boreal Pines, hook 2 fish in 15 seconds, then catch 5 fish in 15 seconds — talking to the Shunsoku Idol after each one to register it and unlock the Rush Charm.

Where to find the Shunsoku Idol in Skycrest

The Shunsoku Idol stands at GPS -25893, 3073, -4656 on Skycrest, close to Master Hiroto. It is one of seven Ancient Idols on the island, alongside Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, and Amanojaku, and each of them hands out its own charm.

Walk up to the statue and use the Talk prompt to start the first quest. Progress is not automatic — you have to come back and speak to the idol after each objective so it registers the completion and pays out the Idol Favor.

All five Shunsoku Idol quests and rewards

The quests unlock in a fixed order. Each one you finish also raises the Rush Charm’s maximum level by one, so there is a reason to run the whole chain rather than stopping at the charm itself.

Note: the word “directly” in four of these objectives is doing real work. Only fish caught with your rod count — crab cages, spears, and anything else will not tick the counter.

Gear setup: Rods, enchants, baits, and the potion

Sort your loadout before you talk to the idol at all. The whole chain hinges on Progress Speed and Lure Speed, and swapping gear mid-run is what usually burns the 15-second timers.

Clearing the two Progress Speed quests

Equip a rod with strong Lure Speed and Progress Speed, then cast anywhere convenient. Rushed Catch only asks for one fish landed in under 8 seconds, and a fast setup usually clears it on the first or second cast.

Return to the idol to bank the completion, then check that your equipped rod sits at 50 Progress Speed or higher. The Onirafalx clears the threshold on its own, and the Herculian enchant adds a comfortable buffer.

Catch 20 fish with that rod. Rarity, size, and location do not matter here, so park yourself somewhere with fast bites and grind it out without changing gear.

How to catch an Electric or Electrified Northern Pike

This is the quest most people stall on, because a plain Northern Pike does nothing for it. The fish has to carry the Electric or Electrified prefix, which means you are fishing for a mutation, not a species.

Travel to Boreal Pines and head into the Astral Cavern. That is where you can reliably line up Northern Pike for the objective.

Equip Fish Head bait so pike start biting quickly, and use either the Tempest Rod for its 10% electric mutation chance or a rod carrying the Stroming enchant for 25%.

Break out a Tempest Totem to force rain. With Stroming active, rainy weather doubles the electric mutation chance to 50%, which turns a long grind into a handful of casts.

Read the name of every pike you land before assuming you are done. The catch only counts with the Electric or Electrified prefix attached.

The two 15-second trials: Rushed Selection and True Rush

Rushed Selection asks you to hook 2 fish within 15 seconds. Hooking is the measured action, not landing, so Lure Speed matters more than reeling power. An Onirafalx or Plaguereaver paired with Rapid Catcher Bait gets both bites inside the window without much fuss.

True Rush is the harder version: 5 fish caught, start to finish, in 15 seconds. Drink a Glitched Potion first, keep a rod with 100% Lure Speed and high Progress Speed equipped, and use bait that pushes Progress Speed further. Then cast and reel without pausing to check menus.

Tip: watch your potion timer. If the buff runs out before the fifth catch lands, the attempt does not count and you start the run again.

Claiming and equipping the Rush Charm

Go back to the Shunsoku Idol after the fifth quest and interact with it. The “Idol Favor Up!” message is your confirmation that the objective registered — if you do not see it, the game has not credited the completion yet.

Once it registers, the Rush Charm appears in your charm list. It does nothing until you slot it, so open the Charms menu through the Crest Amulet and equip it there. You start with a single charm slot, and more open up as your Idol Level climbs, reaching nine slots at level 100.

The charm scales too. Catching fish in Skycrest levels it up, and its Progress Speed bonus grows using the formula BaseStatBoost + StatBoostPerLevel × (Level − 1). Every additional Shunsoku quest you finish raises the ceiling that level can reach.

Why a Shunsoku quest is not counting

You used a crab cage, spear, or another method instead of catching directly with your rod.
Your equipped rod sits below 50 Progress Speed during the 20-fish quest.
The pike you caught was a regular Northern Pike with no Electric or Electrified prefix.
You fished for the pike outside the Astral Cavern at Boreal Pines.
The Glitched Potion expired before your fifth catch landed.
You never returned to the idol, so the completed objective was never registered.

Shunsoku’s chain does not end with the Rush Charm — the idol has 15 quests in total, with the tenth and fifteenth tiers feeding into the Titanic and Flash charms once every idol on the island has been pushed that far.
