Fisch Skycrest: Full Hayate Idol Quest Guide

Exact objectives, rods, baits, and totems for all five Hayate Idol trials, plus the Swiftness Charm payout.

Exact objectives, rods, baits, and totems for all five Hayate Idol trials, plus the Swiftness Charm payout.

Hayate is the speed-themed Ancient Idol on Skycrest, and its five trials all test how fast something moves — the fish, the weather, your glider, or your catch timer. Finish the fifth one and you walk away with the Swiftness Charm and a large chunk of Idol Favor.

Quick answer: Talk to the Hayate Idol at Skycrest (GPS -25990, 3094, -5036), then complete Swift Swimmer, Swift Sailing, Swift Winds, Swift Gliding, and True Swiftness in order, returning to the idol after each objective to claim Idol Favor and start the next trial.

Hayate Idol location and quest order in Skycrest

Skycrest sits in the sky behind the Fischfest 2 island and is reached by swimming up a pair of waterfalls. Once you are on the island, the Hayate Idol stands at -25990, 3094, -5036, close to Fruit Lover Frank. Interacting with it starts the chain immediately — there is no separate unlock step.

The trials are strictly sequential. Each one is handed out only after you return and turn in the previous objective, and the Idol Favor payouts scale sharply toward the end.

Gear to bring before you start the trials

Four of the five trials are catch objectives, and each one wants a different loadout. Sorting the rods, baits, and totems in advance saves a lot of back-and-forth between Skycrest and the mainland.

Swift Swimmer: Catch a Rose-Veiled Fairy Wrasse

The opening trial asks for one Rose-Veiled Fairy Wrasse or one Vibranium Fairy Wrasse. Both are Mythical and both live in Skycrest waters, so you never need to leave the island for this one. No perfect catch is required — the fish just has to land in your inventory.

Equip your highest luck rod and load Bio-infused Coral Bait. Luck is what pulls the Mythical entry into your catch pool here, so use the best rod you own rather than a utility rod.
Fish anywhere in the Skycrest waters and keep casting until the Rose-Veiled Fairy Wrasse appears. The quest counter flips to 1/1 the moment either wrasse variant is caught.

Walk back to the idol and interact with it. The dialogue advances, 15 Idol Favor is paid out, and Swift Sailing begins.

Swift Sailing: Perfect catch a Sailfish in Windy weather

This trial moves you off the island. The Sailfish is a Rare fish from the Ocean, and two conditions have to line up at the same time — the catch must be rated perfect, and the weather must be Windy when it happens.

Travel to Moosewood and spawn a boat from the Shipwright, then drive out into open Ocean water away from the dock.
Equip a low luck rod and Minnow bait. Low luck is deliberate here — a high luck setup dilutes the pool with rarer fish and makes the common Sailfish show up far less often.
Use a Windset Totem to force Windy weather instead of waiting for it to roll naturally. Confirm the weather is active before you cast.
Fish until a Sailfish hooks, then land it with a perfect rating. Anything less than perfect does not count, even if the weather is correct.

Swift Winds: Catch a Gusty or Breezed African Butterflyfish

Back on Skycrest, the third trial needs a mutated African Butterflyfish. A plain one does nothing — only the Gusty or Breezed variant registers on the counter.

Glide over to one of the ponds on Skycrest where the African Butterflyfish spawns, rather than fishing at the island’s edges.

Equip the Wind Elemental Rod with Insect Bait. The elemental rod raises the chance of the wind mutations rolling, which is the entire bottleneck on this trial.
Keep casting until a Breezed or Gusty African Butterflyfish is caught, then hand it in at the idol for 150 Idol Favor.

Swift Gliding: Hold maximum hang glider velocity for 10 seconds

The only non-fishing trial in the set. You need to sit at a Hang Glider’s top speed for ten seconds, and the timer accumulates across attempts rather than demanding one clean run.

Equip any Hang Glider and climb to the top of the Northern Summit on Skycrest Island.
Jump off toward the ocean far below and hold the dive so the glider reaches and stays at peak velocity. A long vertical drop is what keeps you pinned at maximum speed.
Repeat the jump two or three times. Each descent adds a few seconds, and the objective clears once the combined time hits ten.

True Swiftness: Catch a Wyvern in under 20 seconds

The final trial is a two-rod job at Above the Clouds. One rod exists purely to make the Wyvern appear, and the other exists to land it inside the twenty-second window.

Travel to Above the Clouds and set your inventory up before fishing, so you can hot-swap rods without fumbling mid-catch.
Cast with a high disturbance rod to force the Wyvern to spawn. Disturbance is what drives the spawn, so raw luck is not the priority at this stage.
Once the Wyvern is up, switch to the Ruinous Oath Rod or another rod with strong piercing, equip Trifle Worm or Starlight Worm, and pop an Aurora Totem.
Hook the Wyvern and push the bar hard from the first second. The catch has to finish inside twenty seconds, so a slow, careful reel will fail even if the fish lands.

Swiftness Charm reward and how to confirm the questline is done

Returning to the idol after the Wyvern catch pays 1,500 Idol Favor and unlocks the Swiftness Charm, the Ascension reward tied to Hayate. The charm boosts Lure Speed, starting at +1% at level 1, and its maximum level rises by one for every Hayate quest you clear. Hayate has 15 quests in total, so the chain continues past the fifth — the idol’s closing line points you back during a tropical tempest.

Charms are equipped through the Charms Menu on the Crest Amulet, an item from the Keeper of the Sky questline. How many you can slot at once depends on your Idol Level, from one slot at level 0 up to nine at level 100.

Note: Skycrest has seven Ancient Idols in total — Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku — and each fifth quest hands out its own charm.

Why a Hayate trial does not register

  • The Sailfish was landed without a perfect rating, or the weather was not Windy at the moment of the catch.
  • A base African Butterflyfish was caught instead of the Gusty or Breezed mutation.
  • The glider never hit peak velocity, so short hops off low ledges add nothing to the ten-second total.
  • The Wyvern was caught, but the reel ran past the twenty-second limit.
  • The objective cleared but was never turned in — the next trial only starts after you speak to the idol again.

Run the whole chain in one sitting if you can. The Windset Totem, the Wind Elemental Rod, and the Aurora Totem are the three pieces most people are missing when they arrive, and having them ready turns a multi-session grind into a single trip up the waterfalls.
