The Bank Shot Pistol is an energy sidearm in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 that fires unstable rounds capable of deflecting off surfaces. It went live on July 16, 2026 with the v41.20 update, arriving alongside Hot Bat Summer as a standard Battle Royale weapon rather than a boss or quest reward. Instead of aiming straight at an opponent, you aim at a wall, floor, or ceiling and let the bounce carry the round into a target that would normally be safe behind cover.
Quick answer: Pick up the Bank Shot Pistol from chests, rare chests, floor loot, fishing spots, or eliminated players, then aim down sights to reveal the trajectory line and fire at a surface so the round ricochets into your target. A ricochet hit deals 1.5x damage.
Where to find the Bank Shot Pistol
The pistol sits in the regular Battle Royale loot pool, so there is no dedicated NPC, vault key, or landmark that guarantees it. You find it through ordinary sources such as chests, rare chests, floor loot, fishing spots, and weapons dropped by players you eliminate. There is also no extraction step involved. Extraction only applies to Sprites, so this weapon behaves like any other gun and disappears when the match ends.

Landing at a large named location gives you more chests and floor spawns to cycle through than a small landmark, which improves your odds of finding one quickly. If you specifically want a higher-rarity version, head for the vaults. Renegade Vaults contain at least one rare Chest and one Sprite Chest, while Sprite Vaults hold multiple rare Chests, making both strong spots to chase the Mythic roll.
The weapon appears across several rarities in normal play:
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
- Mythic
An Exotic version currently exists in the game files but has not been released, and it is expected in a later update. Higher rarities hit harder, and the top tiers can one-shot an enemy on a clean direct hit.

Each round is a projectile that bounces when it strikes a solid surface. A shot can deflect off walls, floors, and ceilings before reaching an opponent, letting you deal damage without holding a direct line of sight. The round reflects off a surface at roughly the angle it arrives, so a shallow angle sends it sliding across the surface while a steep angle produces a sharper turn.
A ricochet that lands on an enemy grants a 1.5x damage boost, so a well-planned bounce is worth more than a plain direct hit. Direct fire still packs a punch, especially at higher rarities, but the extra multiplier rewards you for using the environment. The trade-off is a single round per magazine, meaning you reload after every shot and cannot spray to correct a miss.
The number of times a round can bounce scales with rarity:
| Rarity | Maximum ricochets |
|---|---|
| Common | 2 |
| Uncommon | 2 |
| Rare | 2 |
| Epic | 2 |
| Legendary | 3 |
| Mythic | 4 |
| Exotic | 5 |
Two bounces are already enough to shoot around a corner or redirect a round off the floor. Extra ricochets add options but make the final path harder to read, so a simple one-bounce route is usually more reliable in a real fight than an elaborate five-bounce shot.
For reference, the Rare version carries the following stats in the inventory:
| Stat | Value (Rare) |
|---|---|
| Damage | 89 |
| Fire rate | 1.2 |
| Magazine size | 1 |
| Reload time | 1.8 |
Note: exact body, headshot, and multiplier values can differ between rarities and may shift with balancing, so check the live inventory stats for the version you are holding.
How to aim and fire the Bank Shot Pistol

Tip: bouncing off the floor is often easier than reading wall angles under pressure. Aim down and slightly in front of an opponent so the round rises into them, which secures the 1.5x ricochet bonus in a close-quarters fight without complex calculations.
Best situations to use it
The pistol is strongest in enclosed fights where an opponent leans on cover. Doorways, narrow corridors, building corners, small rooms, rocks, cliff faces, and enemy-built structures all give you a flat surface to bounce from. Floors provide a wide, forgiving target and a simple upward bounce, while ceilings can drop a round behind furniture inside compact buildings.
Its main value is pressure. A player cannot assume a wall keeps them safe, and even a missed ricochet can force them to move, cancel a heal, or abandon a protected angle. In Build mode, player-made walls and roofs act as predictable flat surfaces you can bank off directly. To fight around a corner, stand back far enough to see a surface without exposing your full body, aim at the far wall, and fire once the projected path crosses the enemy’s likely spot. Move after repeated attempts, because once an opponent works out where the shots come from they can push or reposition.
The weapon is weaker across open ground. Rounds take time to travel and ricochet paths need setup, so a conventional rifle or shotgun offers faster, more reliable pressure against a clearly visible target. Treat it as a specialist secondary. Pair it with a shotgun for close range and an assault rifle for mid range, then bring out the Bank Shot Pistol when the angle around cover matters more than raw firepower. When an enemy believes a corner has made them untouchable, one carefully placed bounce is enough to prove otherwise.
