Fortnite OG Season X Is Live With B.R.U.T.E. Mechs and Rift Zones

Everything that changed on the OG Island, from the returning mech to the loot pool and the OG X ‘Brella reward.

A Reality Wave has rolled across the OG Island, and it brought the messiest season of Chapter 1 with it. Fortnite OG Season X went live on September 3, 2026 as part of the v42.10 update, carrying the slogan “Out of Time.” The B.R.U.T.E. is back, Dusty Depot is standing again, the Meteor is hanging in the sky, and there is a free glider waiting for anyone who can close out a match.

Quick answer: Season X is playable right now in the Fortnite OG playlist. Win a single Victory Royale during the season to unlock the OG X ‘Brella glider, then equip it from the Congratulations screen or your Locker.

How to unlock the OG X ‘Brella in Fortnite OG Season X

The umbrella works the way it always has. One win, one glider. It does not matter whether you take it in a mech, on foot, or by outlasting the last two players in a build fight, and there is no separate quest to accept first.

Load into a Fortnite OG match. Both the standard and Zero Build versions of the playlist are running Season X content.
Win the match. The Victory Crown, Victory Royale banner, and end-of-match XP tally all appear as normal once the last opponent is down.
Confirm the unlock. A Congratulations screen appears with the OG X ‘Brella and an EQUIP button, and the glider is filed under your umbrellas in the Locker alongside older ones like the Override ‘Brella, Impact ‘Brella, Icy Eye ‘Brella, Burning ‘Brella, Winter ‘Brella, and Kevin ‘Brella.

B.R.U.T.E. mech spawns, seats, and self-destruct

Mechs drop out of the sky during the early game and land on marked spots on the map, so the race for one starts the moment you leave the Battle Bus. They are built for two players, and the two seats do completely different jobs.

SeatWhat it controls
DriverMovement, stomping, and the boost jump used to cover ground or clear terrain.
GunnerThe missile launcher and shotgun, plus spending materials to overcharge the shield for a short defensive boost.

You can pilot one solo, but you will only ever be using half of it at a time. That also means an unattended mech is fair game for anyone nearby, and a stranger climbing into your empty seat mid-fight is a normal occurrence rather than a bug.

Mechs can also be scuttled. A self-destruct option is available to whoever is inside, which matters when a stolen mech is about to be handed back to the enemy team, or when you would rather leave on foot than keep a highly visible target under you in the final circles.

Note: If you would rather deal with mechs from range, the Automatic Sniper Rifle is in the loot pool from day one and is the intended counter.

Reality Wave map changes and Rift Zones

The Reality Wave pulled several timelines onto the same island at once, so a handful of familiar locations no longer behave the way they did last season.

LocationWhat changed
Loot LakeThe Zero Point sits frozen mid-explosion. Step into the area around the orb and normal gravity stops applying.
Dusty DepotRestored to three intact warehouses with no craters, as it stood before the Meteor hit.
The MeteorSuspended overhead. You can land on it and explore, though it is an obvious spot to get contested.
Northwest of Salty SpringsThe Devourer’s skeleton lies where it fell to Mecha Team Leader.
South of Paradise PalmsA Rift Zone leading into Pandora. Stay inside and avoid damage for a few seconds and your shields regenerate.

The rest of the island is still the Chapter 1 map you know, with Mega Mall, Salty Springs, Junk Junction, Pleasant Park, Haunted Hills, Snobby Shores, Starry Suburbs, Sunny Steps, Lazy Lagoon, and Pressure Plant all in rotation.

Season X loot pool: vaulted, added, and coming later

The loot rotation is the biggest practical change for anyone who spent the last month in Season 9. Several staples are gone, and a second wave of items is being held back for later in the season.

StatusItems
VaultedAll vehicles except the Driftboard, the consumable Glider, Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle, Flint-Knock Pistol, Shadow Bomb, Air Strike, Mounted Turret, Tactical Assault Rifle, Ice Cream Cone
In at launchB.R.U.T.E., Junk Rift, Automatic Sniper Rifle
Later in the seasonTactical Submachine Gun, Shield Bubble, Zapper Trap, Spicy Taco, Glitched foraged item, and more

Because every vehicle other than the Driftboard is vaulted, hoverboard rotations and mechs are effectively your only motorised travel. Plan storm moves around that, especially on the larger edges of the map.

Plenty of Chapter 1 classics are still in circulation around the additions, including the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle, Drum Shotgun, Boogie Bomb, Storm Flip, Chug Splash, Slurp Juice, Shockwave Grenades, and Campfires. Boogie Bombs in particular remain the cleanest way to break a boxed-up opponent in a final circle.

OG Season X Pass outfits

The OG Season X Pass carries three Outfits, each a redesign of a character associated with the original Season X. They are Oxide, Ultima King, and Kinetic Catalyst. XP earned anywhere in Fortnite counts toward levelling the pass, so match XP, quest XP, and time spent in other modes all feed the same progress bar.

Map and gameplay fixes in v42.10

Alongside the season rollover, a batch of island fixes shipped. Two Ziplines east of Neo Tilted that could not be entered from one end, and ejected players early from the other, now work properly. A duplicate lab structure at Pressure Plant that forced you to open the same doors twice has been removed.

The rest is mostly environment cleanup. Flickering textures, floating structures, and clipping cables around the building west of Loot Lake are fixed, grass no longer pushes through floors and sidewalks at Paradise Palms, an oversized Chest at Neo Tilted has been resized, duplicate dinosaur and camel statues at Paradise Palms are gone, and Frosty Flights lost a floating wall. Objects at the ruined house at Snobby Shores now fall correctly when their supports are destroyed, a terrain gap in the southern part of that area is patched, and buildings between Snobby Shores and Neo Tilted no longer vanish from their usual spots.

Season X is the tenth and final Chapter 1 season in the Fortnite OG rotation, following Season 9 and the Final Showdown event. Epic has not confirmed an end date for it, nor what comes after, so the sensible move is to take the win for the umbrella early and let the second wave of loot pool additions land while you work through the pass.
